Outfit: Holidays Are Coming!
So, you see that t shirt I’m wearing? It’s labelled a size 6. And that, my friends, is all the evidence we need of vanity sizing gone mad. I wear a 10-12 on top and even accounting for the fact that it’s supposed to be oversized? Madness.
I layered a long sleeve top underneath (it’s too cold for short sleeves now!) and added some classic blue jeans and studded ankle boots.

Outfit: Sweater Dress, Boots, Burgundy and Leopard
I do love me a good sweater dress. They’re just so easy to throw on with some tights or leggings, a pair of boots and some accessories. This one is a lovely cosy chunky knit. It’s a neutral colour but I think the cable knit adds a bit of interest and you can add whatever colour pallet to cream that you wish.
I’m having a big fat fail on the shoe saving front this week, aren’t I? The trouble is that most of my boots are now safe and it’s a bit chilly for shoes with dresses.
Finally, a Happy Thanksgiving to all my American readers!

Outfit: Burgundy and Navy Stripes
Howdy all! How are you all this fine Wednesday?
I wanted to wear my burgundy pants today, paired with a striped sweater, so I added my navy polo neck underneath as an extra layer. I really like the combination of burgundy and navy. I added my Warehouse jacket as well for even more warmth. You know I can’t do with being cold!
Last night I skipped the gym in favour of going with the young man to visit his aunty. She gave us tea and homemade mince pies so it was definitely better than step class!

Outfit: Red on Red on Beige and Tan
I got this dress two years ago when I was in Sydney, from the little vintage shop in Manly where we were staying. It’s a great little winter staple – a bright, cheerful colour, cosy knit and can be layered under or over. I went for layering under today with a red polo neck but it was pretty chilly so I could have done with a layer over it too.
Last night I went to the gym and then I started reading Lindsey Kelk’s new novel I Heart Christmas. We also watched Salvage Hunters on TV.

Outfit: Black and White and Purple
So, Monday. Good to see you again. I decided to brighten up the mood with some bright purple pants and added my faux fur trimmed booties for cosy factor.
I may just spend the whole winter in this sweater (and its cream and beige twin/triplet sisters). It’s the warmest sweater I own (85% wool/angora and a really thick knit) and I love the super long sleeves.

Outfit: Cosy Saturday and Weekend Recap
Happy Monday y’all! Did you all have good weekend? Mine was busy – my sister and I headed over to see our parents on Saturday as it’s my dad’s birthday this week. We had lunch with them and gave my dad his presents. Saturday evening we had friends over for tea and we had a great time playing board games with them.
Sunday morning I was on Sunday school duty which this week involved crafting for the Christmas window decoration in the church. After a mild panic about the sheer size of the window we have fill, the other two leaders and I, assisted by about 5 young people, cracked on and made some nativity figures and a stable.
Sunday afternoon I made a start on writing my Christmas cards and watched Love Actually (one of my favourite Christmas movies) before heading off to sing Messiah at a different church.

Outfit: Grey, Tan and a Crazy Scarf
Well this is a scarf and a half isn’t it? It’s so warm and cosy that I felt like I didn’t need a winter coat this morning and opted for my leather jacket instead (note to self: when it’s 3°C outside, you probably do need a winter coat, no matter how big your scarf).
Casual Friday this week called to me and said a comfy sweatshirt, jeans and slouchy boots and socks, so that’s what I went with. Bet you didn’t know Fridays could talk, did you?
I’m kind of head to toe in Long Tall Sally today, but that’s only because their stuff fits me so well.
Oh, and for anyone wondering about the sign on the door behind me – it says ‘No high heel shoes to be worn on kitchen floor, thank you’. The young man put it there because the kitchen floor may look like laminate but it’s actually lino doing a really good impression. It has no hard underlay it can get marked and punctured by heels. Hence why I stand on the mat to take my pictures.

Thursday Latelies
Here’s what I’ve been enjoying this week:
Follow me on:
- Enya’s And Winter Came album – it’s wintery without being too Christmassy (it’s a little bit Christmassy) and just right for this time of year.
- My red cowboy boots – I’ve had them since Friday and have worn them four times already.
- Messiah – it’s a big sing and for many people it marks the start of Christmas. I’m just glad to be doing one this year as I’ve missed it the past few years.
- Cadbury’s Christmas chocolate – a Dairy Milk bar with milk and white chocolate Christmas trees on the top!

Outfit: Burgundy Sweater and Brown Cords
Did you get any snow last night then? We didn’t, although it was very cold and wet, but just with heavy rain and sleet rather than snow. It had warmed up a bit this morning (to all of 4°C) but cosy cords were definitely a good plan.
Last night I went to join a choir that I’ve never been before for the rehearsal for their annual Messiah. It is very traditional to sing or listen to a performance of Handel’s Messiah at this time of year, particularly in Yorkshire. For many people it marks the start of Christmas. The lady next to me last night said she doesn’t do any Christmas shopping until she’s sung Worthy Is the Lamb. We didn’t do that one last night so no Christmas shopping for her until Sunday!

Outfit: Shoeper Challenge 2013/14 Save 48 | How to Wear Black and Brown Together
Another pair of boots saved. The temperature rose overnight and it was raining heavily first thing (so no snow for me this week then) but still, we’re deep in November now and it is high time the cosy boots came out. These wedges were a Christmas present from the lovely people at Deichmann Shoes about 4 years ago now. They are lined with faux sheepskin so they’re lovely and warm, and the wedge heel and platform sole means they are really comfy too.
Many people are still wary of pairing black with brown but there really isn’t any need to be. I often advise that an easy way to pair black and brown is to add something leopard print as this pulls the two colours together nicely. However, if you want to wear black and brown together just do it. I put my brown skirt with a black and white outfit, and added my brightly coloured scarf for interest.
Black and white stripe top – Zara (sale)
Black polo neck – New Look Tall
Brown denim skirt – John Rocha (charity shop)
Black Super Cosy Tights – Primark
Tan faux suede boots – c/o Deichmann Shoes

Turquoise scarf – H&M
