This isn't a post I ever thought I'd write, but after almost 12 years, here we are. I am considering shuttering the blog. It's been well over a month since I last posted and, to tell you the truth, I haven't missed it.
Whilst I'm not sure I can be bothered with blogging any more, I do still like the idea of documenting my outfits, if only so I can look back and laugh at myself in years to come. So perhaps I'll just do a big roundup post every once in a while? Perhaps I won't. (Before today it's been three weeks since I took an outfit picture so we're erring on the side of won't at the moment!)
Speaking of big roundups: here's what I've been wearing recently...
(ETA: This post turned out to be a little image-heavy so I've split it into two - this is my May outfits and the first part of my June outfits will follow later in the week.)

Blogoversary!
My blog is 9 years old today! I can't believe I've been doing it that long to be honest. Do you remember the world 9 years ago? Well kids, there was no Twitter, no Instagram, Facebook was but a babe in arms. And we certainly didn't call it social media. Smartphones were a thing of the future, the iPad was yet to be invented. It was a different world. You had to blog on your desktop computer whereas today I will often upload a post from the Blogger app on my phone. 9 years ago no one knew what an app was.
I like to take this annual opportunity to thank all my lovely readers for reading and commenting and for sticking with me over the years. Thank you all!

Outfit: 30x30 Day 14, Outfit 14
I am going to try to revive my poor, neglected Facebook page. I can’t promise how long it will last (as I am aware I have promised the same thing before and failed to deliver), but the plan is to post extra content over there – for example the accessory close ups that I no longer post over here, and I will try to update my status more often. Be sure to Like my page to stay in touch!
Last night I went to the gym and headed straight for the shower when I got home. By 9pm the lunches were made and I was on the sofa in my pyjamas watching My Big Fat Gypsy Valentine. Which was awesome. I watched a video on You Tube (I am totally obsessed with Fleur de Force’s channel right now and she’s Vlogging everyday in February) and then it was time for bed.
I had all but forgotten that this sweater was included in my 30 items. Fortunately I kept the list handy and had a look at it last night as I was sure I wasn’t using all the items. I wasn’t so this sweater makes an appearance today. I’m wearing the red booties again as my other footwear options wouldn’t really have worked. Well, the black knee high boots probably would have done, but I wanted some colour rather than black.
Grey jacket – Topshop Tall (eBay)
Grey sweater – New Look Tall (eBay)
Turquoise top – Long Tall Sally
Denim skirt – Jasper Conran (Debenhams)
Grey ribbed tights – H&M
Red suede booties – Georgia Rose (c/o Sarenza)
Red beads – Claire’s
Silver bling ring – River Island
Total Est. Cost £93

Comments...again...
I seem to be having some trouble with my comments still, I'm not sure Disqus has installed properly. I think I know what I need to do to fix it, I just need to get time to do it. I published the comments I got last night but they don't seem to be showing up on the posts. I can see them in the Blogger Dashboard though, and I replied to one but that isn't showing up either! I will try to have this rectified by the weekend.

For those of you who have joined us recently and don’t know the rules of this challenge – there aren’t really any rules. The idea is that you choose 30 items of clothing and use them to create 30 different outfits over a period of 30 days. You can do 30 days straight (which is what I intend to do), weekdays only, or whatever you choose. There is a shopping ban that comes with the challenge but as I had already put myself on one of those for a couple of months from the beginning of January anyway, that’s by the by. You choose your 30 items and then can add whatever accessories you wish – tights, scarves, jewellery, etc. I will be counting leggings as tights because as we all know: leggings are not trousers! You are also free to wear whatever coats, snow boots and outerwear that the weather dictates necessary.
I have tried to incorporate items that are different from the last time I did this challenge (2 years ago), but there are some old favourites in there. I guess that's just testament to the longevity of certain items in my wardrobe.

Comments
I have just installed Disqus for commenting on my blog and it is currently importing all existing comments across. This could take up to 24 hours apparently so if your comment has disappeared it is (hopefully) only temporary and should reappear soon! I love getting comments on my blog so if you have something to say, please don't be shy and feel free to leave me a comment.

Humphrey: The Shoegal Cat
As I mentioned in my Thursday Latelies I often get comments or tweets about my cat. I have posted about him before but that was a couple of years back so here’s an update for those who have joined us since then.
The cat is called Humphrey (after the Downing Street cat) and he is not real. So everyone worrying about how he never moves or looks a bit odd can stop worrying. He’s not real! He belongs to the young man (I have no idea why he had a fake cat in the first place) and moved down here with us when we moved in together five years ago. He took up residence in front of the fire and there he has stayed ever since. A few people have been fooled into thinking he is real (from a distance when he’s facing the fireplace he is quite convincing), including my brother-in-law who approached him with caution the first time he visited us.
We don’t have a real cat as it would be left alone all day and we would have to ensure we were back to feed it on evenings and weekends which would be tying for us, so Humphrey is the closest thing we’re going to get right now. I love that you lovely readers ask about him and it was high time he had a post dedicated to him.

I Am..... Boutique
You may remember me talking about I Am..... boutique in the past – the little fashion boutique owned by my friend Aimee in Prestwick in Scotland. Well she is now selling online from the Facebook page so check it out here for something different to what the rest of the high street has to offer. I am particularly fond of the heart print sweater pictured above: it’s just £20 and is quite appropriate for Valentine’s Day.

New Shoes!
So, my latest pick from Sarenza as part of their Brand Ambassador programme (have you entered the contest to become the newest member of our team yet? You’ve only got til Friday!) is this pair of neutral/taupe patent leather shoes from LK Bennett. LK Bennett is fast becoming one of my favourite shoe brands – their shoes are well made from gorgeous soft leather, and for high heels they are very comfortable. I’ve only got until February 14th to save these shoes under the terms of the Shoeper Challenge though, so I’d better get planning an outfit around them. Look out for them in an outfit post soon!

Happy Blogoversary To Me!
Shoegal is 5 years old today! 5 years! Can you believe I’ve been blogging that long? Now usually at this point I would post a picture of a fabulous cake in the shape of a shoe, but since cakes don’t sit well with Weight Watchers, this year you just get some fabulous shoes instead. That OK with you?
