PMT Challenge - Days 27-31 Catch Up

Here's the second installment of my PMT outfit round up posts!

Day 27

The second day of my weekend away, this was great in the rain. I subbed out the denim jacket that was suggested for a cardigan as it was easier to pack!

I liked this challenge outfit as it’s the kind of thing I would wear anyway, especially when the weather is as nice as it was this day. One of my colleagues was leaving the company so we all went to the pub at lunchtime and sat outside in the sun with our drinks. Someone commented that it had been a long time since it had been warm enough to do that and she was right, it has been a really long winter. It was nice to enjoy some sunshine whilst we got the chance.

The top shown in today’s outfit prompt is a navy sweater with lemons printed on it, which is from Old Navy. We don’t have Old Navy in the UK (sadly, as they do some awesome Tall items) and this sweater is roughly the same colour pallet (minus the yellow of the lemons of course) so it is a pretty good substitute which was already in my closet.

Secondly, I am loving these white trainers. They are super comfortable and they look a little smarter than regular sneakers because they are faux-leather.

I always love an outfit that includes this jacket. I’m not sure I would put my brogues with these pants again, but the morning I wore this it was too wet for flats and the pants are slightly too cropped for ankle boots. I could have worn tall boots but this is supposed to be a spring challenge, you know? Anyhow, an outfit that combined burgundy and army green was good for me as I would never have put those two shades together myself.

And can you spot my favourite shop?! :)

I think this is my favourite combination of the challenge so far! I wasn’t sure that the narrow sleeves of my denim jacket would work over the floaty sleeves of this top, but the top is so lightweight that it isn’t a problem. The prompt for today was actually cinnamon jeans, but I don’t have any of those and wasn’t about to go a buy a pair, so I am subbing in burgundy each time the cinnamon ones come up and I think it’ll work fine. The mustard top felt very ‘spring’ on a lovely sunny day.

Easter Monday is another bank holiday in the UK (yay for 4 day weekends!) and the day that the Putting Me Together spring challenge officially started. My outfit wasn't quite what I would have planned because this:

Yeah, my old nemesis the snow came back for a final (it had BETTER be final) visit of the season. So instead of the blazer I probably would have worn, I opted for a cosy knit as my top layer. But it's still colourful and I felt put together even for just hanging out at home and doing some chores/playing Crush Letters on my iPad. And needless to say I did not actually leave the house in these shoes.

Having finished the Couch to 5K app the day before (a second post about running is coming soon!) I would have liked to have got out and made a start on the 5K to 10K programme that I'm going to attempt next but it wasn't to be.

How to smarten up ripped jeans for the office: add a blazer, blouse and dressy (pointed) flats. Or you could add heels if that’s your thing but (whispers) I don’t really wear heels any more.

I’m not sure I’ve mentioned this here, but you probably will have noticed that since I started walking to work almost two years ago the number of pairs of heels I wear has diminished to almost none. Time was when I couldn’t resist a pretty pair of heels, but now I am just ‘gimme all the trainers’. I am a flats and trainers girl these days predominantly, with the odd pair of heels thrown in for a special occasion. I hardly recognise myself. J

I tried to make this outfit spring-like with the light colours, but it was dull and rainy and so tights were still a necessity. It’s progress that they were regular tights though, not the fleece-lined variety. Baby steps. And the cosy cardi allowed me to wear my trench coat rather than a proper coat so that’s spring too.

I knew my office might be warm enough to shed the cardi so it was important that the outfit work without it too, which it does.
