Having spent much of the previous day feeling cold I was taking no chances on Friday and put on my 80% wool sweater. Super cosy!

I decided to distress these jeans a little more: they’d had a hole in the left knee for the past couple of year (genuine distressing from when I fell over!) so I cut a hole in the other knee and added some thin patches on the thighs. I’m pretty pleased with how it looks.

We were headed towards the bank holiday weekend (and May!) but the weather didn’t seem to care about that and the bitingly cold wind continued to blow. I braved nude tights again but really wished I hadn’t when I went for a walk at lunchtime. I also wished I’d put a big sweater with this skirt, rather than wearing a thin blouse and jacket but you live and learn.

This skirt is old – I bought it on eBay around 7 years ago and I don’t know how old it was then. It had another layer of pleating on the back when I got it, which made it hang in a strange way at the back – it sort of kicked out too much, so I had some of the fabric removed and liked it much better that way. The blouse and jacket are both from last spring, both bargains which are still going strong: the blouse was £9 and I liked it so much I have it in two other colours, and the jacket was in the Forever 21 sale for just a fiver. Speaking of F21, are they going to open any further branches in the UK or are London and Birmingham the only ones we’re going to get?

Another day, another jumper. Oh spring, where did you go? We had sleet and even a little snow the previous day, and the temperatures plummeted to near-freezing again, so it was time to pull out the big guns black tights again. And the ankle boots. We were four days off May here and shivering in a cold northerly wind. Great.

Everything in this outfit is Primark, including the tights, which means I should probably start shopping somewhere else, huh? But each item was just a tenner (I think) and you really can’t go wrong with that.

Spring put itself on hold for a day to let winter creep back in with freezing temperatures, snow and hail. Which was nice. Sensing the need for another cosy sweater I pulled out the cashmere. By dinner time I was regretting the ballet flats so I changed to ankle boots to keep warm and dry.

I have been wearing this little necklace a lot recently. It’s not quite a choker, but gives off that vibe. It was a gift for my 21st birthday more years ago than I care to admit really, but it is real silver and so has stood the test of time.

The forecast said that the temperature was set to plummet, and I was recovering from a cold and feeling a bit sorry for myself, so a cosy sweater was definitely the way forward for Monday morning. I kept the look spring-like (we were just a week away from May after all) by not reverting back to thick tights and by adding white pumps and in the end the sun shone and it wasn’t that cold at all.

Yes it was my birthday last week, but no, the birthday party this sunny Sunday wasn't for me. My littlest niece turned one on Tuesday so it was a first birthday party for her. My sister hosted it at her house and basically we had a buffet lunch with all the close family around. We spent the afternoon in the garden and at the park enjoying the sunny spring weather.

Outfit: April 21st – A Little Red

I was going to put a black blazer over this t shirt, but then I realised the red colour (or Wine, as I think its official title is) matched the colour of the red in my TM Lewin jacket pretty much exactly, and I decided to be a little bolder and wear that one instead. I also like how the faux leather edging on the jacket co-ordinates with the faux leather choker.

The t shirt is from Boohoo and I now have three of them, after my friend Gemma wrote an article on Popsugar declaring it The Best T Shirt In All The Land (or something). She’s right too. The drape of the fabric is fabulous, the length is more than long enough for us tall ladies and they are cheap. Plus, Boohoo almost always has some kind of promotion running: 20% discounts, free shipping, discounted next day shipping. And that is just as well because when I returned to the site to purchase a third version of this shirt, I inadvertently discovered that Boohoo have a tall range, which I reviewed last week.

Top – Boohoo

Around a fortnight ago this t shirt went missing from my closet. I wanted to wear it the other Saturday but when I went to get it out the night before (it wrinkles when folded so needs to be hung out before wearing) and it wasn’t there. I took out each pile of t shirts from the shelf to check it hadn’t fallen behind, checked my hanging rails in case I’d already hung it up (see: wrinkles when folded), checked the laundry basket: nothing. The only conclusion I could come to was that it had blown off the line last time it was washed, but as I didn’t notice a gap on the washing line, like, ever, then that too seemed unlikely. So I ordered another one (thank you New Look 20% discount codes) and the replacement arrived and then the original turned up. Because OF COURSE IT DID. Exactly where I thought I’d put it in the first place, but where I had DEFINITELY checked and it wasn’t there a couple of weeks before. GAH! Fortunately I hadn’t taken the replacement out of its packaging so it was swiftly returned and I will be keeping a close eye on my t shirts from now on.

So having found the t shirt, I needed to wear it (if it’s on my body it can’t go missing again, right?) so I stuck on my trust grey cardi and pumps, along with burgundy pants because I can’t really wear blue jeans to work on a Thursday. And at least I still have the outfit I was planning to wear that Saturday in my arsenal for another day so all’s well that ends well.
