I actually went to work like this. No jacket, no cardigan, nothing. Now that might not sound like a big deal to you, but for Miss Super Nesh over here, leaving the house without some form of cover up is a very big deal indeed. But do it I did and it was nice not to have that extra layer that I’d have only carried to work and carried home again.

My legs are tanned courtesy of St Tropez Gradual Tan which isn’t exactly gradual. This is one application, the previous morning, and after showering in between. The product blurb states that there is no fake tan smell and, initially, there isn’t. It is billed as a tinted moisturiser containing gradual tanner and when you apply it the smell is quite pleasant, like a nice moisturiser. However, as the colour starts to develop so too does the fake tan smell. By mid-morning it was as biscuit-y as can be. To be fair, I don’t usually fall for the ‘no smell’ claims of fake tans as, in my experience, ALL fake tans have that smell (perhaps it’s just my skin – what’s your experience?). I only tried this out as it was free with Marie Claire magazine this month. The colour of the tan is really good, and initially I was thinking I’d buy a full size bottle of it (£15 in Boots, I think) but I really can’t be dealing with that smell and it has only served to remind me why I don’t bother with fake tans usually. I think I’ll just stick to my good old Sally Hansen airbrush legs spray.

The young man said this dress looked like a sack when I first put it on in the morning, and I suppose from some angles it does. But when you stand up straight and move around it hangs beautifully, thanks to the heavy weight jersey fabric. Heavy weight jersey fabric that somehow also manages to be quite thin, so you do need to wear an underskirt/slip with this dress.

I tried an experiment with my hair the night before taking these pictures. My hair was wet and air drying as I was watching Made In Chelsea, so I plaited it into three sections – the top section, and then left and right bottom sections. I pinned it all up on top of my head and let it finish air drying overnight. In the morning I just finger combed it through, sprayed it with gel spray and I was good to go.

I should have taken my pictures without the jacket as it was so warm out (I know, I was surprised too!) that I didn’t really need it once I had walked up to work. In fact I would have been fine in a short sleeved top and without the cami I had on underneath my t shirt. I was glad of the cami though, if only to tuck in and stop the label in the back of my trousers scratching me (note to self: unpick that label!).

We were promised a fine, sunny day on Thursday so I put some washing on and toddled off to work. At lunchtime I popped home and put it all out on the line, confident it would dry in the blazing sunshine. About 4pm the heavens opened and it poured down. For about half an hour. So thanks for that, May.

I kept my outfit simple with an all black ensemble and put my faux leather jacket over it in the morning chill. I added some pops of turquoise/teal to brighten up the black.

Or at least it is after three days of solid rain. I never really liked that song when it first came out, but then I realised that it name-checked my hometown and so I’ve had a soft spot for it ever since.

Do not be fooled by the shoes. It was still wet and horrid outside the morning I wore this so I stashed the shoes in my bag and put on boots to go out in.

It was wet and rainy this dull grey Tuesday so I dug out my Chelsea boots to keep my feet dry walking to work. Spring had decided it was taking a break that week and we were going right back to October. Though, saying that, it actually wasn’t that cold and I never know how to dress for warm wet weather. This lightweight dress seemed like the perfect compromise and my trench coat went right over the top of it to keep the rest of me dry.

Just a quick mirror snap for me today, some mornings are busier than others if I need to curl my hair, load the washing machine etc. It doesn’t always leave time to set up my camera and take proper photos. I took the inspiration for this outfit from Audrey at Putting Me Together (I just love her style!) and from this picture in particular.

It wasn’t quite warm enough (read: my pedicure wasn’t up to scratch) for my tan wedges and I’m not sure I would have been able to walk to work and back in them either, so I went for tan flats instead. And I had to add a cardi because I’m nesh.

This dress is one of the ones that I tested out in my Boohoo Tall review. The weather FINALLY picked up and we got some warm sunshine, something resembling almost-mid-May and spring! I could have dressed it up with a blazer rather than a cardi, but wanted to wear my pumps so decided to go the full-on casual route. I’m lucky that my office is fairly casual and as long as I’m not in jeans and/or trainers Monday-Thursday, pretty much anything goes.

It was cold out the first couple of days of the second week of May. Seriously, if it weren’t May I would have been looking for my gloves my hands were that cold when I was outside! I even ditched my trench coat for my wool-mix biker. Thankfully, warmer weather was promised for later in the week.

I tried to keep my look spring-like whilst layering up for warm. I think the khaki coloured jeggings (I keep wanting to call them chinos, probably because this is the traditional kind of colour of chinos) helped do that, but I am wearing three layers on top in these pictures. The jeggings were just £6 and the length is fine for the summer so if they hold up well to washing I might be tempted to hunt down another pair in a different colour.

I am obsessed with this necklace/choker right now. I bought it on Saturday (£3 for this and another one on the same card) and wore it Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. The little star necklace is attached to the choker (which I think looks like a string of sequins) and they pair together perfectly.
