Today is the penultimate workday this week, thanks to the Easter holidays. I have all of next week off work too, though that would only be three days as Monday is a bank holiday and week Friday is also a bank holiday, due to the Royal Wedding. So thank you Prince William and Kate Middleton for not only choosing to have your wedding on a Friday, but also tagging it onto the May Day holiday, giving us two four-day weekends in a row. Good choice!

My scarf looks a bit scruffy in the pictures as I forgot to tie the ends underneath. I added it for a pop of colour, and for warmth in the early morning. We are still having lovely weather in the UK but as it’s only April, it takes a while to warm up. The shrug is also for warmth, and to cover my shoulders as this dress is now sleeveless. I’ve had this shrug since I was at university – 1998 or 1999. A few more years and it will be vintage!

These shoes were a gift from my sister’s best friend, K. K’s cousin had picked them up for just £1 in the M&S sale (they had been £45 originally) but they were too small for K. So she remembered that my feet are almost as big as hers and offered them to me. My sister brought them back with her a couple of weeks ago when she visited K. I’m not sure I would have chosen this style if I had been out shopping, but I do like them and sometimes it takes a freebie to make you branch out of your ‘safe’ style territory. The shoes have partial suede uppers and feature Insolia technology in the heels for added comfort.
