Georgia Rose silver flats

We hosted Christmas day this year so I was cooking for seven. It wasn’t as daunting as I thought it would be. I’d prepped the veg the day before, and the young man’s mum brought a few bits so it all turned out well.

I don’t like wearing slippers when we have visitors, so I wore my silver leather flats by Georgia Rose which were just as comfortable but felt more polished.

Best of 2013 | August

By August I am usually getting bored of my summer clothes and am ready for fall. This year I started added scarves back in but it stayed warm outside.

Outfit: Day In London

21-12-13b

On Saturday 21st December the young man, a friend, my sister and I headed down to London for the day. We were on the 6.15am train and didn’t get back until past midnight so it was a long day, but we had a good time. After breakfast at the Breakfast Club (somewhere I’ve wanted to go since I read about it a couple of years ago), my sister and I headed to Oxford Street. We wanted to see the Christmas windows at Selfridges, and they didn’t disappoint. Each window is a Christmas theme made out of something that is sold in the store. The only photo I got is this reindeer made of Dyson vacuum cleaners.

We lost a good hour in the shoe department, and then headed over to Covent Garden where we were booked in for afternoon tea at the Kingsway Hall Hotel. The scones, pastries and tea were all unlimited and I would definitely recommend this hotel for afternoon tea as it was lovely.

21-12-13c

We went to check out the lights at Harrods and met up with the lads again for an evening meal before the train home.

Best of 2013 | June

June1

I spent June settling into my new office building and doing battle with my new arch-nemesis: the air conditioning. But in the outside world we actually got a proper summer, which, after 6 years of torrential rain, was something of a novelty.

Best of 2013 | January

January1

January2

It’s come to that time again where we look back over the outfits of the past year. This is always something I like to do as I often get inspiration for new combinations from myself, via my blog archives.

January was, well, January: cold, dark and sometimes snowy. I’ve selected my top few outfits from the month but which is your favourite? And wasn’t my hair dark before I coloured it?

Outfit: Red and White Candy Stripes

ArturoChiang

If I was Santa and an Elf the past two days, I guess that makes me a candy cane today! I still love my stripes and red and white ones seemed like a festive option for casual Friday.

20-12-13d

It was my last day at work this year today. There are blog posts scheduled for each day over the holidays and I’ll drop in with a new outfit post when I can.

20-12-13c

Yesterday was a bit manic. I finished work early to go for a festive Chinese buffet lunch with some work people. When I got home the young man needed a lift over to meet some friends so I took him then went and did the big Christmas supermarket shop. Then I went back and picked up the young man and we went to the house of the friends he’d been out with for a few drinks and some food. We got home about 10pm and I unpacked all the shopping (mercifully the frozen stuff was all still frozen).

Red and white stripe top – Kew 159 (John Lewis)
Jeans – Long Tall Sally
Black leather boots – Arturo Chiang (Century 21)
Teal necklace – Scope
Santa hat earrings – can’t remember

Thursday Latelies

Here are some things I’ve been enjoying this week.

  • BBC Radio Player (the new radio section of the iPlayer) App – I am an avid Radio 2 listener and they often have interesting sounding documentaries in the evenings. However, 10pm is not always the best time to be listening to a radio show so the radio player app on my iPad or phone allows me to listen to the programme on my own time schedule.
  • Catch-Up TV – in the same vein as the Radio Player above, if I’ve missed something on TV I know I can usually catch it on catch-up if it’s been on one of main channels or their subsidiaries.
  • Christmas lights – Many houses I pass by each day have put up their holiday lights now and everywhere just looks so festive! I instagrammed a picture of my own tiny tree last night – we don’t have room for a big one this year – and even though it’s small the fairy lights just make it look super sparkly.

What have you been enjoying recently?

Outfit: Santa’s Little Helper (and Another Red and Teal Combo)

Georgia Rose Moletina red cowboy boots

So I think I probably dressed more like an elf today, but I got to play Santa at lunchtime and dished out presents to one of the teams in their Secret Santa gift exchange. I borrowed a Santa hat for the occasion and everything.

19-12-13b

19-12-13c

I thought a green (teal) dress and red boots were a festive combination so that’s what I went with, with black leggings and a sweater for warmth.

Teal dress – Next Tall (eBay)
Black polo neck – New Look Tall
Black leggings – New Look Tall
Red leather cowboy boots – Georgia Rose (c/o Sarenza)
Red beads – Claire’s
Red Santa hat earrings – so old I can’t remember!
