I ♥ Fall Tag

So every so often I will steal a tag from the You Tubers and answer the questions here on my blog. It’s been such perfect autumn weather this weekend (I’m writing this Sunday night) that I’m in a real fall mood, so here are my answers to the I ♥ Fall Tag!

1. Favourite Fall lip product?
I use the same lip stain all year round (Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Lips) so I don’t have a specific fall lip colour, but I find my lips get dried out more in the autumn and winter so I turn to my trusty Vaseline Lip Therapy (just the regular blue and white tin) more often when the weather gets colder.

2. Favourite Fall Nail Polish?
I don’t really wear nail polish, but I do love a good nail sticker (laziness, allergies) and a deep red colour is always a classic for autumn.

3. Favourite Starbucks Fall Drink?
I love a hot chocolate when I’m out and about during the autumn (and not just at Starbucks) but at home I’m a tea girl. Regular English Breakfast is my usual go to, but I mix it up with Twinings Lady Grey and Twining Gingerbread Green Tea sometimes too.

4. Favourite Fall Candle?
Spiced orange by Yankee Candle. Although I did buy some cinnamon scented candles from Ikea this summer which I’m loving the smell of too.

5. Favourite Fall Scarf or accessory
My leopard print infinity scarf is hardly off at this time of year, but I have a vast collection and will switch it up for a knitted one when it gets really chilly.

6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze?
I’m not sure that any of these are really a thing in the UK, but if I could choose, I would love to go on a hay ride like they do in the US.

7. Favourite Halloween movie?
Hocus Pocus. I will watch pretty much anything with Bette Midler in it, and Sarah Jessica Parker is just an added bonus. I try to watch it on or around Halloween each year.

8. Favourite candy to eat on Halloween?
White chocolate buttons. And not just on Halloween. I will take those any day of the year.

9. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?!

Probably a witch, if we are doing Halloween dressing up at my office this year. It’s what I usually dress up as since it’s easy – I have a hat and all you need are a black dress and some striped socks or tights. Dressing up for Halloween isn’t really a thing in the UK, once you’re over the age of ten.

10. What is your favourite thing about Fall?
The weather getting colder and digging out my winter clothes: it’s like getting a whole new wardrobe for free!

Sweater Weather You Tube Tag

I like to pinch tags from You Tube from time to time and answer the questions in text form. I loved this tag last year and have been waiting for the right weather to post it this year.

1. Favourite candle scent?
Yankee Candle’s Spiced Orange, no contest.

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate?
Tea. But sometimes hot chocolate.

3. What's the best fall memory you have?
Bonfire night. It’s a very British tradition I know, but I love getting bundled up and going out to watch fireworks and warm up by the bonfire. The year our Australian friends were living over here we all went to the massive bonfire in Roundhay Park in Leeds which was awesome.

4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner?
Dark lips on me, winged eyeliner on other people. If I try to do winged eyeliner on me I just end up with a smudged mess!

5. Best fragrance for fall?
Midnight Poison by Christian Dior.

6. Favourite Thanksgiving food?
We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving here in the UK, but as a general cosy food you can’t beat a sponge pudding with custard. If the pudding is jam roly poly it’s even better.

7. What is autumn weather like where you live?
Usually it’s wet and a bit chilly, but this year much of September, and the beginning of October, was beautifully sunny and unseasonably warm.

8. Most worn sweater?
One of my many polo necks – probably the black one. I live in polo necks come the cold weather.

9. Must-have nail polish this fall?
I don’t wear nail polish as it doesn’t agree with my nails. However, I do like a nail sticker and I have some lovely dark red ones by Mylene Klass that I got in the pound shop.

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?
Jumping in leaf piles. But in reality I don’t do that (there’s never any big piles of leaves around, if there were they’d probably be wet, and I’m a bit old for that kind of thing now) so I guess I’ll have to say rugby games. I love going back to my high school to watch the rugby match between the school team and the old boys.

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?
Skinny jeans. Leggings are not trousers people, don’t forget that.

12. Combat boots or Uggs?
Combat boots. Unless it’s really cold, in which case, Uggs.

13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?
I don’t know, I’ve never tried it (shh, don’t tell the blogosphere...they’ll kick me out!). I don’t drink coffee so I’ve never had a pumpkin spice latte.

14. Favourite fall TV show?
This year? Made In Chelsea (and what’s left of the Great British Bake Off)

15. What song really gets you into the fall spirit?
There’s not a song in particular, but around November time I start playing Enya’s And Winter Came album as a sort of pre-Christmas soundtrack. It’s wintery in a snow and candlelight way without being overtly Christmassy.

Happiness Tag (You Tube)

I like to pinch tags from You Tube from time to time and answer the questions in text form. I’ve omitted two of the questions this time as they’ll only work on camera.

1. What's your go-to makeup product that makes you happy?
Silver eyeshadow. You can’t not be happy when you’re wearing silver eyeshadow.

2. What food brings a smile to your face?
Custard. Custard is just a happy food I think and it’s delicious. Hot or cold.

3. Which song lifts your mood no matter what?
I Don’t Feel Like Dancing by the Scissor Sisters. Despite the title I defy you not to dance when that is playing.

4. Which inspirational quote picks you up when you feel sad?
“Give a girl the right shoes and she can rule the world” – Bette Midler. I have that printed on my cell phone case.

5. Where in the world would you be happiest?
At home. Or possibly in New York. Or Australia where it’s warm. Tough choice.

6. What do you do to make you feel happy when you’re having a bad day?
Eat some chocolate. Or watch some Big Bang Theory.

7. Who is the happiest person you know?
My niece. She’s only two and a half but she’s so smiley all the time!

8. What’s your happiest memory?
Being on holiday in Australia.

9. What makes you feel fuzzy and smile on the inside?
Watching a good movie, or a sweet bit on a long running TV show such as (spoiler alert!) when Mulder and Scully finally got together, or when Leonard proposed to Penny on The Big Bang Theory.

10. Give an example of a good deed that made you happy.
This wasn’t something I did, but last year one of my girls at work was pregnant. She couldn’t get the holidays she wanted over Christmas so one of the lads in her team agreed to swap dates with her so she could take a longer break and travel to see her family. That was such a sweet thing to do and earned him an employee of the month nomination from me.

The British Tag

I always see some fun-looking tags on You Tube but as I don’t have a You Tube channel I never join in. However, there’s no reason I can’t pinch the tag and answer it on my blog, is there? So here goes then!

Tag questions:
1. How many cups of tea do you have a day and how many sugars?
I could chain-drink tea if I had the opportunity. Honestly. I will never say no to a cup of tea – don’t ask, just make me one. I know it’s probably not good for me, but I drink it black and fairly weak, so there’s no added calories and the caffeine content is probably fairly low. No sugars thank you.

2. Favourite part of your roast?
I do like a Sunday roast and I have been cooking them recently, albeit doing the meat in the slow cooker so I don’t have to think about timings. My favourite part is probably the roast potatoes – I do a healthy roast potato by using FryLite spray oil, and the apple sauce if we’re having gammon.

3. Favourite dunking biscuit?
I’m not a biscuit dunker. I can’t be doing with the crumbs in my tea. My favourite biscuit is a plain digestive. And if I am going to dunk anything in my tea it will be Twirl bar. Try it, it’s awesome.

4. Favourite quintessentially British past time?
It’s not something do regularly, but I do enjoy crown green bowling. Can you get anymore British than that?! We have a trip each summer with the church choir and I’m rubbish at it but it’s such good fun.

5. Favourite word?
Paraphernalia. (The spell check in Word just had to advise me how to spell that.)

6. Cockney rhyming slang?
Being from Yorkshire, Cockney rhyming slang is not really something I use. I would use Yorkshire words more often.

7. Favourite sweet?
White mice. I am obsessed with these at the moment.

8. What would your pub be called?
I guess it would have to be something with a footwear them so the Tan Boot perhaps?  Or the Red Shoe?

9. No.1 British person?
The Queen. For the James Bond stunt at the opening of the 2012 Olympics alone.

10. Favourite shop/restaurant?
My favourite shop is Long Tall Sally which has been catering to the needs of tall British women since 1976. My favourite restaurant is my local pub which does the best food.

11. What British song pops into your head?
I’m Your Man by Wham is in my head at present. I have no idea why!

12. Marmite
Eurgh. Not for me, thank you.
