I ♥ Fall Tag

So every so often I will steal a tag from the You Tubers and answer the questions here on my blog. It’s been such perfect autumn weather this weekend (I’m writing this Sunday night) that I’m in a real fall mood, so here are my answers to the I ♥ Fall Tag!

1. Favourite Fall lip product?
I use the same lip stain all year round (Revlon’s Just Bitten Kissable Lips) so I don’t have a specific fall lip colour, but I find my lips get dried out more in the autumn and winter so I turn to my trusty Vaseline Lip Therapy (just the regular blue and white tin) more often when the weather gets colder.

2. Favourite Fall Nail Polish?
I don’t really wear nail polish, but I do love a good nail sticker (laziness, allergies) and a deep red colour is always a classic for autumn.

3. Favourite Starbucks Fall Drink?
I love a hot chocolate when I’m out and about during the autumn (and not just at Starbucks) but at home I’m a tea girl. Regular English Breakfast is my usual go to, but I mix it up with Twinings Lady Grey and Twining Gingerbread Green Tea sometimes too.

4. Favourite Fall Candle?
Spiced orange by Yankee Candle. Although I did buy some cinnamon scented candles from Ikea this summer which I’m loving the smell of too.

5. Favourite Fall Scarf or accessory
My leopard print infinity scarf is hardly off at this time of year, but I have a vast collection and will switch it up for a knitted one when it gets really chilly.

6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze?
I’m not sure that any of these are really a thing in the UK, but if I could choose, I would love to go on a hay ride like they do in the US.

7. Favourite Halloween movie?
Hocus Pocus. I will watch pretty much anything with Bette Midler in it, and Sarah Jessica Parker is just an added bonus. I try to watch it on or around Halloween each year.

8. Favourite candy to eat on Halloween?
White chocolate buttons. And not just on Halloween. I will take those any day of the year.

9. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?!

Probably a witch, if we are doing Halloween dressing up at my office this year. It’s what I usually dress up as since it’s easy – I have a hat and all you need are a black dress and some striped socks or tights. Dressing up for Halloween isn’t really a thing in the UK, once you’re over the age of ten.

10. What is your favourite thing about Fall?
The weather getting colder and digging out my winter clothes: it’s like getting a whole new wardrobe for free!

Saturday was a lovely fall day: chilly enough for a sweater and a scarf and boots, but not chilly enough for a coat or jacket if you were walking. Which I was. I walked about five miles and although these boots now need thick socks inside them, they are still super comfortable.

This skirt is one of the items I pinched back from my sister last week as she didn’t wear it and I’m so glad I did. I love a little denim skirt with thick tights for autumn.

I’ve been looking back at my archives for outfit inspiration recently and several times I saw myself wearing all black outfits, usually featuring these jeans. I don’t know about you, but I often have a hard time styling black jeans so I don’t wear them as much as I should (I should wear them because, despite being black, this is a pretty great pair of jeans). When I do end up wearing them it tends to be with a black top, or a black and white striped one.

This was Monday’s outfit when the forecast (and indeed the actual weather) was rain. Tights dry much faster than jeans if you get caught in a downpour and that might be the factor that most influences my return to skirts/dresses and tights this autumn (which I feel sure is going to happen).

Summer had a bit of a resurgence on Saturday so I decided it was warm enough to wear my off the shoulder top. It has long sleeves but if you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time you will know that I am constantly col so it has to be quite warm for me to go bare shouldered.

I had a walk in the morning and in the afternoon I washed my car and learned how to chop wood with an axe. Not my average Saturday!

And so, Friday rolls round once again. Do you all have exciting plans for the weekend? I think mine will be fairly quiet but that’s just fine with me. Now that that nights are starting to draw in I don’t mind lighting a few candles and cosying up on the sofa with some good TV and/or magazines. Not that I buy many magazines these days. My only subscription now is for the Weight Watchers magazine, and I have started buying the Slimming World one the past couple of months for the recipes. I stumbled upon the September issue of US In Style in my local WH Smith the other week but I have yet to open it. It won’t stop me going back and looking for the October issue next month though…

Last night I went shopping. In my sister’s closet. A few years ago I gave her a couple of pieces that I had decided were too short for me. This dress was one of them. I’m sure it shrank when I washed it, it wasn’t this short originally.

With the relaxing of our dress code though I feel like I can wear shorter lengths with leggings (always with leggings) and as my sister wasn’t wearing the two dresses and a skirt I pinched them back. Don’t feel too bad for her though – I left her the mint green jeans I had on yesterday in exchange. They are from Primark a few seasons ago, when the sizing was much more erratic than it is now and the waist band was loose on me but the legs were tight. My sister’s legs are much skinnier than mine so they fit her better and she is far more likely to wear jeans than dresses.

I replaced the bracelet for my Mi band yesterday as the loop on the old one broke. I co-ordinated it with my zebra print scarf today.

Happy Friday y’all! Any exciting plans for the weekend?

Today’s forecast was for warm sunshine but the day dawned cool and misty so I was glad of the extra layers with the jacket and the scarf. This little jacket is proving to be a great bargain buy – it was just £1.70 on eBay but is quite warm thanks to the wool content.

I was roped into a game of rounders at work this lunchtime (I only signed up thinking not many people would be interested but it turned out there were enough to make four teams) so I packed my trainers to change into, along with a spare pair of jeans in case I took a tumble and got muddy or grass stained.

I always feel extra tall in these jeans as they’re so long. I said on Friday I would be wearing a wider leg jean more often this season but since then I wore skinnies. It just so happened that I wore bootcuts again the day I took photos.

If August was red/orange month then September is shaping up to be teal/turquoise month. It’s not deliberate and I’ve worn other colours in between but again, it just so happened that the days I’ve taken pictures are the days I’ve worn those colours.
