NOW Discount Red

If in doubt, wear red shoes is one of my life mottos. Although today, I’m not convinced red shoes were the best choice. With all the rain and wind that was around red boots might have been better.

Steve Madden Candence cognac

This is one of my favourite outfits – I’ve had the dress years and it was a major bargain at just 99p from a charity shop. You know how much I love tan boots and black leggings and a black polo neck are a no-brainer at this time of year.

Mustang Alora boots

It has been threatening to snow on and off all weekend, and that, coupled with biting wind, has made me feel cold. I just wanted something warm when I was picking out today’s outfit so went with a knit dress and layered on a cardigan, scarf and thick tights. I added boots in case it did snow again (or just to stay dry in the rain) and a belt because who doesn’t love a studded belt?

27-01-14b

I had a quiet-ish weekend – I did a bunch of chores on Saturday including washing my car (then wondered why I had bothered when there was a torrential rainstorm a couple of hours later). I did some baking too and have a recipe to share with you later in the week.

On Sunday I finished off a crafting project and we went out for tea. I will share the DIY with you at some point too.

Ukala Sydney high chestnut

It snowed yesterday. Only a tiny bit and not for very long, but still. Snow! For the first time this winter. I was caught out in it in my heels and that wasn’t really very fun, so when I went to the supermarket in the evening I was taking no chances and put my ugg boots on. They were so comfy and cosy that I left them out and put them on again today. Sometimes you just want warm feet, you know?

24-01-14b

I picked out my polka dot jeans and a sweater that would complement the boots and the spots on the jeans, and that is super warm and cosy too. A leopard print scarf added an additional pattern and completed the outfit.

Happy weekend y’all! I have found a low fat brownie recipe on Facebook so I intend making some of those tomorrow to see what they’re like. They sound too good to be true so we’ll see.

Outfit: Boring Black?

LK Bennett Shilo

What do you think of an all black outfit? Boring or chic? Unimaginative or classic?

23-01-14e

23-01-14

Last year I was firmly in the ‘unimaginative and boring’ camp, but recently I’ve been drawn to all black ensembles as a way to showcase accessories. Today, for example, I added some oversize silver pieces – the necklace, the belt buckle – some burgundy shoes and a co-ordinating scarf and suddenly the outfit was pepped up about 80%.

23-01-14c

Do you regularly wear black head to toe? Or do you prefer more colourful ensembles?

Black polo neck sweater – New Look Tall
Black jeans – Next Tall (eBay)
Burgundy patent shoes – LK Bennett (c/o Sarenza)

Georgia Rose silver camo flats

When I picked out my purple jeans for today, I thought it would be fun to pair them with a purple top. The term monochrome is often used in the blogging world to describe a black and white outfit, but in actual fact it means an outfit comprised of any single colour.

I added a scarf which gives a bit of contrast with its blues and mustard tones. And then I added a pair of silver flats with a camouflage pattern on them. They have pointy toes and pointed toe flats are my favourite kind of flats. They are by Georgia Rose and were in the Sarenza sale so I got them with my brand ambassador voucher this month. I have been looking at them on the site for a long time, and considered them last year when I needed new silver flats, but ultimately decided a plain silver would be more practical. However, once they went in the sale I thought they would make a fun addition to my shoe collection.

Georgia Rose Moletina red cowboy boots

It was another cold and frosty start this morning, with a bit of fog thrown in for good measure. It wasn’t icy but I had planned to wear flat boots anyway.

21-01-14d

I added a leopard print scarf for some pattern mixing (and because it’s my only grey scarf) and it was only when I got to work that I realised my skirt and sweater were both from the Gap. The skirt is old – bought in the sale many, many years ago for about £15 which was a complete bargain as it is 74% wool. I wear it winter after winter and it has held up so well.

21-01-14c

The sweater is cashmere and is a men’s size XS bought on eBay and fits me perfectly – the sleeve and body length is great for a tall girl.

Grey wool skirt – Gap (sale)
Grey rib tights – H&M

M Par M wedge boots

There was a heavy frost this morning and as I hadn’t picked out any footwear to wear with today’s outfit, I reached for my boots with the sturdiest grip on the soles in case it was slippy.

I don’t wear this shirt as much as it deserves, bargain that it was. So I pulled it out today. I think it will go well with pale wash jeans too.

Navy polo neck – Long Tall Sally
Denim skirt – Long Tall Sally (eBay)

Outfit: Tartan, Sweatshirt and Wedges

Matalan teal

I keep reading how tartan is going to be big this spring, so I’m glad I held on to the tartan shirts I had from several years ago. I was trying to work out this morning when I bought this £8 Primark number, and I think it must be at least 2009, if not 2008. It’s a lovely soft brushed cotton so is really warm to wear and the length of the body is really good for a tall person like me.

17-01-14

I checked my shoe list and I see that I’ve already saved these teal wedges. I guess I have my favourite shoes and I stick to them! I think they’ve either stretched out or my feet have shrunk though, as they feel too big today. The only leather on them is the lining of the footbed so they shouldn’t have stretched out, but then my feet should shrink either!

I am excited it’s Friday today – I was just in a really good mood all day. Have a great weekend everyone!
