Outfit: April 10th – Pattern Mixing Monday

I am totally loving these leopard print pumps. The print just gives the casual shoes a little something extra I feel.

Yes, I got another version of this t shirt. Who am I to resist anything in army green right now?! I had a 20% off code too, so it was all good. Speaking of these t shirts, my grey one has mysteriously gone missing. According to Instagram I haven’t worn it since 16th March (surely not?) (and also, see, there IS a point to logging all your outfits on Instagram) and when I looked for it Friday evening to hang up to wear Saturday, I couldn’t find it. I conducted an extensive search for it on Saturday morning but to no avail. So I ask you this: if you were a grey t shirt, where would you hide?

Outfit: April 7th - Navy Layers

I put on some smart-ish jeans and layered up the navy for this casual Friday look. I have been looking for a navy jersey jacket for ages and finally found one in ASDA. And since I had a gift card it didn’t cost me anything either. The cross strap top is from last year and I modified it – there were two crosses originally, designed to be worn in the back. I cut one off and turned the top around. And the tank top is old M&S and purely there for modesty and another layer as it wasn’t that warm the day I wore this.

Outfit: April 5th – Black and Tan

The coolest temperatures of the week were forecast for Wednesday so I gave a pair of boots one last airing before the spring/summer season (or before the torrential rain sets in and I need boots to keep my feet dry…). I still need a scarf for my morning walk to work although I don’t always photograph them now as they are not a part of my outfit as they tend to be during the colder months, they’re just a necessity to keep warm.

Everything here is past season, with the exception of the choker which I got about a month ago in Primark, for all of about £2. The trousers were from last spring, the boots from the spring before and I’m not sure which year I got the sweater – possibly 2011 or 2012. It was in the autumn of whichever year though, but I think this shade works well all year round and can be paired with just about anything.

Outfit: April 3rd – Sneaker Addict

So apparently walking to work has turned me into something of a sneaker addict. If you include my runners and the pair I cycle in (that don’t have laces so there’s nothing to get caught in the pedals…), I am up to about 8 pairs now. And for someone who was never a trainers girl, that is a lot. My latest addition is this leopard print pair which was just £8 in ASDA (and I had a gift voucher so absolutely no guilt involved). They will go with everything (leopard print is totally a neutral and you should not trust anyone who tells you otherwise) and to prove that I paired them with a dress and jacket for work on a sunny Monday.

This is actually a great little outfit – swap out the blazer for a leather jacket (I would go with my tan faux-leather one personally) and you have a comfy, casual outfit for shopping, sight-seeing, whatever. The dress was £6 from Primark and I am so pleased they are doing these t shirt dresses again this year. The fabric is really thick so you don’t need an underskirt and come the summer they are just so easy to pull on with a pair of sneakers or flats and go.

Outfit: March 31st – Rock Chick

I was inspired by this post of Allie’s to create my own version of her outfit for casual Friday. I don’t have any leather-look pants but ripped black skinnies are bad-ass enough for me, and a classic cartoon character replaces the band shirt. And I added a cardigan because I am nesh. Part of my wants to cut a v in the front of this shirt, part of me knows I’ll cock it up and regret it! I’ve had the t shirt years, probably going on 10 years, after spotting that DP were doing a tall version of it. When I was a child (in middle school I think) I had a sweatshirt with Betty Boop on the front and I loved it. I’m pretty sure it was black with just her head and name on it, but we’re talking 25 years ago so I can’t remember! I had to buy this t when I saw it in DP all those years ago.

I want to write happy Friday but chances are this post won’t go up on a Friday so happy whatever-day-it-is-today, and I hope April is treating you well so far!

Outfit: March 30th – Black and White Stripes

Apologies for yet another mirror picture, but I was getting into work early that week to get more time at lunch to do exciting things like picking up extra groceries and hanging my washing on the line. I’m not complaining about getting to hang out my washing though, far from it, it’s nice to have some good drying weather to take advantage of at last.

Thursday was set to be the warmest day of the year so far, so I wore layers that were light even though they were black. The jacket is a jersey fabric and unlined, so is basically just a sweatshirt in disguise. And the t shirt has short sleeves and a nice drape to it. I have temporarily resurrected my favourite shoes too, using some of those stick on soles you can buy on Amazon. I’m not sure how long my bodge-job will last but it’s given them a temporary reprieve at least.

And finally, if you look closely at my recent phone photos you might spot a ring attached to the back of the phone and around my index finger. This genius little invention was £2 in Primark (I saw it on a Primark haul on You Tube, I can’t remember whose video it was now) and sticks to the back of your phone (or case). It makes holding your phone so much easier, and you are far less likely to drop it when faffing about or trying to take photos. The ring rotates 360˚ so you can position it just as you want it and also acts as a stand if you’re watching something on it. You can get similar rings on eBay and Amazon too.

Outfit: March 29th – Denim and Stripes and Back to Boots

This particular Wednesday started off grey and rainy, so tights and boots were the way to go. And I added a striped sweater because you can’t go wrong with stripes, can you? I think I might actually wear stripes too often (if that is possible): on Sunday morning as I was getting dressed the young man commented ‘we’re having stripes for a change then?’. In my defence I didn’t wear stripes on the preceding Friday so it was a change from that, yes.
