Geox tan knee boots

I met my sister in the city after work so I needed to be warm and comfortable. These Geox boots are possibly the most comfortable boots ever, and it’s an added bonus that they’re knee length so my legs stayed warm too. If you are looking for a pair of comfy boots I can definitely recommend the brand. They are not cheap (but they’re not stupidly expensive either) but they are made of a good quality leather, the soles are sturdy (I haven’t managed to walk a hole in them yet and I was gifted these several years ago now) and with a bit of TLC they will last for years.

This little skirt from Primark is certainly seeing some wear this autumn/winter. It was just £10 so the cost per wear is pretty low already, and it’s a lovely heavy knit so it’s warm and cosy too.

I cannot remember the last time I wore flares. Eighteen or so years ago they were a staple in my wardrobe and pretty much all I wore. Then along came skinnies, and well, they’re just so much more practical when it’s wet and rainy. Who wants acres of wet fabric flapping around their ankles when your skinny jeans will fit neatly inside your boots and stay dry? Not this girl, that’s for sure. However, on a dry winter day some cosy cord flares can be just the job for a change from a skinnier cut. Remember to pair them with knee high socks or boots though: your lower legs will be unprepared for the chill!

I’ve had these pants at least ten years, probably more like twelve. The label says Moto on it, which is what Topshop used to call their denim range back in the day. The (metal) zipper bust on them around eight or nine years ago (I wrote about it on this blog!) which suggests they’d had a lot of wear up to that point. They have been taken in at the waist (I was never going to part with them, in a world of jeans and black trousers being the only options in tall sections they’re irreplaceable).

Where has this year gone? My thought when typing this was ‘where has November gone?!’ but by the time this post goes live it will be December and the year will be practically over.

Red high heel shoes

Don’t be fooled by this outfit into thinking that I actually left the house like this. Monday morning was wet (but thankfully not as windy as I expected) so I put my heels in my bag and wore my wellies to walk to work. I guess you could call that overkill, but why risk ruining leather boots (and getting them all mud-spattered) when I have a perfectly good pair of rain boots that don’t get used that often? I also donned a large plaid scarf, a knitted hat and my cosy waterproof coat.

It’s time for cashmere sweaters now that winter has hit. This one was a bargain on eBay several years ago and is from the men’s section which is why the sleeves are actually long enough for me.

I felt like my poor old over the knee boots were being neglected (high heels and walking to work don’t mix) so I stashed them in my bag, pulled on my trusty flats for my commute, then changed when I got to the office. These boots were a Christmas present from my sister last year and they are fabulous as they actually stay up! The heels is a little higher than I would usually go for so I can’t walk far in them, but for a day where I’m mostly sitting down they are fine.

The temperatures dipped overnight and the forecast was for snow the following morning so a cosy oversize sweater (with a thermal stealthily layered underneath) kept me toasty.

I was never going to buy into the cropped jumper trend, but with a high waisted skirt a shorter length (but still made for tall people) sweater can work. I love that the sleeves on this sweater are super long and that the neckline is high without being a full on polo.

I like these boots (pointy toes, super comfortable) but I’m not sure how much I like them with a skirt. I think they hit at a weird spot on my legs and would work better with jeans.

I can’t get enough of the skinny pants/oversize sweater look right now. It’s comfy and cosy (also something I can’t get enough of apparently!). This particular day was mild though, so this thinner knit was perfect with a light scarf looped over it. I felt a little bit spring-like when I put it on, as I pretty much lived in this sweater all spring.

I didn’t have the energy or inclination to come up with a title for this post. I’m on the countdown to Christmas (5 weeks to work at the time of writing – by the time this post goes live it will be closer to 3.5 weeks – woo hoo!) and I am really feeling ready for a holiday at this point. Luckily I have two weeks off over the festive period and it can’t come soon enough.

This past weekend we went to a (belated) bonfire party which was excellent – massive fire, massive fireworks, pulled pork sandwiches and sticky toffee pudding. I don’t think you can ask for much more really.

This outfit wasn’t really warm enough – by mid-morning I was wishing I’d opted for a sweater rather than a long sleeve t shirt and had added the cardi I keep on the back of my chair. Lesson learned: it’s November – wrap up!
