Outfit: Magical Mystery Tour

On Monday lunchtime I got a text from the young man telling me to keep the weekend free as we were going on a date. He wouldn’t tell me all week where we were going, but when Saturday dawned he made sure were up in good time. All I could get out of him was that we were going crabbing. Having established that I didn’t need to take my wellies, I didn’t believe that we were actually going crabbing.

We set off and spent the morning in Skipton, wandering round in the winter sunshine and freezing cold (literally – it was still minus 3 by lunchtime). I managed to find the fifth book in the Annie Valentine series by Carmen Reid in the Oxfam bookshop, so I was pleased with that.

We returned to the car and apparently now it was time to go crabbing. The sat nav said our destination was 40 miles away and as we headed east along the A59, I was sure we were going to York. However, when we reached the A1 we turned onto it and headed north. Our destination turned out to be the Crab and Lobster restaurant (hence the crabbing) for lunch. I didn’t even know the place existed, and it was quite busy. We got a table and had a lovely lunch – poached salmon with a crab topping, hand cut chunky chips (the best kind) and a chocolate mousse cake to finish with. It was delicious. The young man said we would call at York Designer Outlet on the way back, which we did. It has changed a lot since I was last there a few years ago and has lots more shops than it did previously. I feel a trip back there at some point will be in order.

We got home and had a light tea (as we’d had a big lunch), then spent the evening chilling watching TV (the young man) and reading magazines (me) by the fire.

This sweater was bought at a charity shop on Wednesday lunchtime last week. It is a man’s size small really from M&S, but it looked like it would fit me and as it is 100% wool I decided that for £3.45 it was worth a punt. It reminds me of an oversize cardi I had when I was a student (also M&S men’s, also 100% wool). I’m glad I got it as it is lovely and warm.

Blue wool sweater – M&S men’s (charity shop)
Blue and white check shirt – H&M
Jeans – River Island
Tan boots – Barratts
Silver cross necklace – gifted
Leopard print belt – Dorothy Perkins

Total Est. Cost £109.50

  1. What a lovely date! And so much better than acutal crabbing. Although that could be kind of fun too under the right circumstances.

Also, it's always great finding a much-sought-after book.

  2. It was a fab date, and I've almost finished reading the book (and thoroughly enjoyed it)!
