Weekend Recap - London Baby!

This weekend I went down to London for a girly weekend with my friend S.  S lives in Bristol so we met at London Kings Cross.  Friday morning I was up and off to catch the train.  I was going to take outfit photos before I left but my taxi showed up 25 minutes early so I ended up leaving sooner than planned!  Hence the slightly rubbish mirror self portrait in the hotel room.

We met up around lunchtime and grabbed a coffee in Starbucks before catching the Underground across to Kilburn to our hotel.  We stayed at the Quality Matrisse Hotel on Kilburn High Road.  Once we had checked in we got some lunch at Roosters Piri Piri Chicken up the street, then we hit the shops.  The first stop was Long Tall Sally, just because it is off Baker Street and therefore logical to go there first then walk down the length of Baker Street to join Oxford Street.  We spent several hours wandering around and visited John Lewis, Selfridges, the Topshop on Oxford Circus and the huge Primark.

By the time we were done we were getting hungry so we hopped back on the tube and got off at Warwick Avenue and found a little Persian/Iranian restaurant where we had a fabulous meal.

Saturday morning we were up in good time and went to Camden, not an area of London I'd visited before.  We had breakfast at Cote Brasserie and then spent the morning wandering around the various markets that line Camden High Street and Camden Lock.

Once we were done with the markets we went back to the hotel for a quick change then headed over to Park Lane.  S had promised to treat me to afternoon tea as a belated Christmas present and we decided to try the Hilton Hotel but they were full up so we ended up at the Four Seasons just down the street.  It turned out to be a lucky turn of fate at the tea was possibly the most fabulous one I've ever had.

Once we were totally stuffed with sandwiches, tea (a special blend in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee) and cakes we went for a wander around Harrods to walk it off.

Sunday morning we went back to Warwick Avenue to explore the area around there called Little Venice.  We wandered through the gardens that are alongside the canal and ended up on Edgware Road.  We caught the Underground back to Kilburn, had a walk up the high street there, then went back and had a cup of tea back at our hotel.  Mid-afternoon it was time to go our separate ways to catch our trains home.  I arrived back around 6.15pm and the young man picked me up from the station.  S and I had a fabulous weekend.
