Outfit: August 15th - Late Summer
The second last week of August summer decided to make a bit of a resurgence following some distinctly cooler weather. It was lovely and sunny and so I took the opportunity to get my legs out, abandoning trousers in favour of skirts and dresses.

Outfit: August 13th - Sunny Saturday
How is it August Bank Holiday already?! This outfit is from a couple of Saturdays ago when we went to a classic car show with my sister and her family. My parents and my sister's in laws turned up too so it wound up being a real family get together which was nice.
Whilst we were away at the coast at the beginning of the month I found these pants to be super comfortable for walking in as they are so stretchy, so I figured they'd be ideal for a day out running around with my niece too, which they were.

Outfit: August 12th - French Friday?
I am quite lucky that my new office has a fairly casual dress code. Although we don't strictly have casual Friday I have found that I can get away with wearing jeans on a Friday and other people do it too. This particular Friday I paired my denim with a Breton stripe and a neck scarf and my trusty lace up flats.

Review: Cloud 9 Original Iron
A few weeks ago I was contacted by Cloud 9 and asked if I would like to review one of their products. I had heard about Cloud 9 and how they were supposed to be better than GHD, bu could that really be possible? I jumped at the chance to find out and opted to test out the Original Iron straighteners (though I'm now wondering whether I should have chosen one of the curling wands, such is the quality). Spoiler alert: these are fabulous! It's no wonder though, Cloud 9 was founded by the hairdresser originally behind GHD, Robert Powls. In fact they are still based in Ilkley, West Yorkshire, where GHD started back in the day. A true Yorkshire brand.
The iron arrived well packaged in it's sleek black box and I love the turquoise on the inside. I also liked the fact that a fancy carrier bag was included in the shipping box - if I was giving this as a gift I would definitely make use of that. Inside the box was my irons, and a lovely heat proof bag in which to keep them. This will definitely be very handy when I take them with me on holidays and weekends away.
So, on to the iron itself. Could it sort out this mop?
Time to find out. (For reference, I washed and roughly blow dried my hair the night before, then slept on it.) I clipped the top section of my hair out of the way and got to work. The iron has a range of heat settings so you can select the temperature you want. It heats up just as quickly as my GHDs and features mineral infused ceramic plates to ensure a healthy shine to your finished look.
Once the bottom section of my hair was straightened I moved on to the top section, and a few minutes later I had straight, shiny hair.
Overall I am very impressed with this iron. It is definitely on a par with GHDs and so if you are looking purchase a new straightener then consider Cloud 9 to be a very worthy alternative. Now I just need to master curling my hair with my iron!

Outfit: August 11th - Plaid Shirt
As I had been feeling a bit chilly all week, I decided it was time to reach for a plaid flannel shirt. I rolled the sleeves up so it didn't look too autumnal, but, as always happens this time of year, the weather starts to go a bit rubbish and my thoughts turn to transitioning my outfits to autumn. I even wore boots, although I kept them light coloured and ankle height.
I am trying to take pictures each day again now. but I don't always have time for more than a mirror snap, as was the case this day.

Outfit: August 10th - Floral Flats
I want to wear my summer shoes whilst I still can so I popped on this floral pair, rather than the navy lace up pair that I was instinctively drawn to. They're a pale coloured fabric so there's only certain days that are suitable for wearing them and, as it turned out, two Wednesdays ago was not one of them as it started to rain right before I finished work. No harm was done to the shoes though.

Outfit: August 9th - Burgundy and Black
Another day, another distinctly chilly wind. I definitely needed my scarf, even in the office. I'm starting to feel the fall vibes creeping in now, but kept things summery with the pale colour shoes against the autumnal burgundy.

Outfit: August 8th - Back To Work
The first day back to work after a week off is always a toughy so I picked out a comfy dress and leggings to see me through. The weather was on the cooler side too so I added a scarf and my trench coat for my walk to work.

Outfit: August 5th - By The Sea
We had the first week of August off work and so we took off to the coast for a few days to stay in my aunt's caravan. It was a bit windy the last day when I was playing with my camera and thought I'd grab the opportunity to take some outdoor outfit pictures on the cliff top.
