Outfit: Cold Monday
Last night I went to join the young man and his mate in the pub, and then we went back to the mate’s house for a Chinese takeout. I switched my EMUs for my grey faux suede flat boots.
This morning dawned cold but dry. If the rain holds off I will walk to the library at dinnertime to return my books. Hence the flat boots.
I have the busiest week ever this week – I am out every night until Friday, and then I have Friday afternoon off to do my Christmas shopping with my mum & my sister.

Outfit: Wet & Rainy Sunday
We had a lazy morning – I did some washing & made leek & potato soup for dinner. Then the young man’s friend came over & they went off to PC World & B&Q. I ventured out in the rain to the local retail park to go to Borders (which is sadly closing down) and to Boots. I wouldn’t usually go up there in the car on a weekend, but it is so wet out that I really didn’t fancy the walk. Fortunately one of the car parks wasn’t too busy.
I had my charcoal grey fleece hoodie on this morning but changed into this blue cardi to go out. I wish I could pretend that it had something to do with style that I ditched the hoodie, but I can’t. I just didn’t want the hood getting all wet as I wanted to be able to put it back on and be cosy in it later on.
Now I need to go and order myself a subscription to Lucky magazine as I will no longer be able to buy it locally once Borders shuts.

Outfit: Family Meal
We went over to my parents’ house for lunch with my dad’s family. It was a combined celebration for my dad’s birthday which was on Thursday, and a pre-Christmas get together. In the afternoon the younger generation took a walk into my hometown. I was delighted to find that the bead shop is still there and that it sells sterling silver jewellery findings. After a brief wander round we adjourned to the pub for a couple of drinks before heading back for tea.

Review: Christmas Party Outfit At Very.co.uk
The Very.co.uk Blog Partner Program challenged me to pick out a dress, shoes and a bag to create an outfit. I cannot tell you how much I love the dress I chose. It was hard to see the beading detail in the picture I was sent so I took plenty of shots when I had a dress up session this morning. The dress is made of black & white mesh and is by Teatro.
The Love Label shoes may just be the most beautiful shoes I have ever seen. They are electric blue suede t bars with ruffles up the front. They have a hidden platform and a high heel so they make me super tall.
Finally, the bag. It is by French Connection and is also electric blue. It is made from a wool blend coat-like fabric and has a chain shoulder strap which I tucked inside it for this photo shoot. It’s not a particularly evening-y bag, but it is a good size without being over large and I could definitely fit my fold up flat shoes in it if I took it out somewhere. I used it when I went out this afternoon and it works just as well as a day time bag.
I styled up this outfit with the addition of my short sleeve back cardi as a cover up – something I would consider adding for warmth on a night out. All I have to do now is find somewhere to go to wear it!
Dress, shoes & bag are available at Very.co.uk.

Outfit: Mish Mash Friday
Today’s outfit is cobbled together from various elements I’ve worn throughout the week. I added my grey moto jacket over the top again and just as well as I’m sure it was trying to snow this morning. It was just 2˚C driving to work today and there is a patch of snow forecast for tomorrow morning.
I have a meeting to attend today hence the heels on casual Friday, and then I have to do the food shopping on the way home.

Outfit: Knit Dress
Another day, another LTS knit dress. They are so easy to throw on in the morning and just add some accessories to. I’ve gone for a mix of black and brown today, and I added my cream pashmina when I went outside. I would have got a shot with it on but the battery in my camera died.
I’m trying to stay cosy today. I got so cold at rehearsal last night that I had to get out my hot water bottle when I got home. I sat up watching an episode of Flying Doctors, then took the bottle to bed with me to keep me toasty. I love winter but hate it in equal meaures as I am cold all the time.

Outfit: Shades of Grey
I met the drama group gang at Wetherspoon’s for tea last night, then we all headed off to a very chilly hall for a rehearsal. I enjoy going but I don’t enjoy being so cold. It was a relief when we stopped for a tea break.
I read a question on another blog somewhere about wearing socks with shoes and whether it is OK. I think that it is up to you but personally I think it’s fine. As you can see, I have on grey socks here. They are purely for warmth but as long as you keep them neutral I don’t think it looks out of place. If I’d had a skirt on I would have been wearing tights of almost the thickness of the socks.
