Outfit: New Year’s Eve – Daytime
Last night we ended up a friend’s house playing on Wii Just Dance (again). We didn’t get in until 1.20am this morning but it was a fab night. However, I had to be up to go meet my sister in the city for a spot of sale shopping and lunch. I only got a top for myself, nothing exciting. I did however get a Dyson handheld vacuum cleaner at the young man’s request, using our Christmas money from last year.
I kept my outfit simple and just added the scarf for a touch of colour. It was really sunny outside when I took these shots - I had to pull the curtain on as it was so bright behind me!

My Bag of Bags
Up until 2 days ago my handbag was full of bits and pieces, and I hardly ever switched bags because it was such a faff. Then I saw this post on Erin’s blog and my life was revolutionised. Or something. My bag is still full of bits and pieces, only now everything is contained in 5 cosmetic bags, plus my purse, gloves and umbrella. Making it quick and easy to switch bags, even when you’re as lazy as I am. I changed bags for the first time since around September today. I got the cosmetics bags on 3 for 2 in Superdrug on Monday, and had the two Revlon ones already in my collection.
The bag is from Next and was bought about 5 years ago.
Outfit: Wet Wednesday
It’s raining today. For the first time in about 2 weeks. In fact, it’s two weeks tomorrow since the snow first started to fall. There’s still some patches of snow left on the ground so it can’t be that warm out, and the rain has been turning to sleet on and off.
The young man & I walked up to the local retail park as I wanted to look for a new phone. I bought a Samsung Tocco Lite and am now very excitedly playing with it trying to figure out how it all works.
On the way back the young man’s parents’ were in the pub and spotted us as we walked past. We ended up having a couple of drinks with them and then walked on home.

Outfit: Birthday Party
Last night we went to a friend’s house for his birthday party. It was a great night, with food, drinks and Just Dance for the Wii which was so much fun (and which I now totally want).
This is what I initially put on but when we decided we would walk up I changed my boots for my trusty EMUs. I’m glad I did as it was still very icy out and I don’t think I would have got up the hill in my blue boots as they have no grip. I knew my footwear choice didn’t really matter anyway as everyone takes their shoes off in this particular house. I just wanted to add to the 80s vibe of my top with the blue boots. As someone who often starts an outfit with the shoes, I find it quite a challenge to pick out something that will look OK without any shoes on.
There is no photo from today as my hair is in a state and I’m just in jeans and a sweater anyway. The blue boots did get an outing today when I went to drop some things off at the charity shop and to see whether Tesco had any more Denby in (they didn’t).

A Christmas Present
A package arrived for me on Christmas eve. As part of their Blogroll Friends programme, NOW Discount Shoes had sent me a pair of boots and shoes. I can’t wait to wear them!
Outfit: Bank Holiday Monday
We have a bank holiday in the UK as Boxing Day fell on a Saturday. The young man is still busy with the bathroom floor. I headed out to Matalan as I had seen a dressing gown I liked before Christmas. My patience was rewarded as it had been reduced to half price. This evening we are going to a friend’s birthday party so I need to decide what to wear to that.

Outfit: The Greys
The time between Christmas and New Year is always a bit strange I think. We slept late and had a lazy morning, then I headed to Tesco & the young man went to B&Q. He is now putting new flooring down in the bathroom.
I may have spent the Long Tall Sally gift voucher I received for Christmas online this morning in the sale. I may also have made a small purchase in the Next online sale. More details when my possible purchases arrive next week.
What I can tell you about right now are the half price dishes I got at Tesco. We received some Denby mugs for Christmas and I have wanted a good set of crockery for a while now. The young man’s mum told me yesterday that Tesco had sets for half price so I had look today and bought a set that will tone in with the mugs we already have.
The snow is finally melting and although I am sad to see it go, I am getting fed up of wearing my EMU boots everytime I go outside. So it was good to be able to wear something else today.

Outfit: Boxing Day
We had a lazy morning pottering around the house, then got ready to go and visit my parents. We picked up my sister & her husband on the way. The four of us had a very slippery walk to a pub in my hometown for a Christmas drink before we headed back to my parents’ house for a buffet tea and more present opening.

Review: Elite Intensity Eye Pencil
A few weeks back Superdrug very kindly sent me a few products in the Elite range. Having been spoilt with the holy grail of eye pencils, Urban Decay’s 24/7 one, I wasn’t sure this could live up to my expectation. I am happy to say that it succeeded. It glides on just as well as the Urban Decay liners I am used to, and stayed put all day. It was easy to remove with my cleansing wipes too. I would definitely recommend this eye pencil as a cheaper alternative to the Urban Decay ones.

Outfit: Christmas Day
Although there was no more snowfall overnight I got my first ever white Christmas as there was plenty of snow still on the ground. We slept late, opened gifts and then headed off to the young man’s sister’s house, picking up his parents and aunt en route.
The infinity scarf I’m wearing was a gift from Erin last weekend. She asked everyone a few months back what their favourite colour was and had a knitted gift for each of us.

Outfit: It’s Christmas Eve And Snow Is On The Ground
I was so excited to wake up on Christmas Eve to falling snow. We had had another coating overnight and it continued to fall well into the morning. I knew the roads would be clear so didn’t let it put me off my busy day. I headed out to visit a friend and drop off her Christmas present. She lives just down the road from my sister so I had arranged to call in at my sister’s for my dinner and the she & I went to see our parents.
The young man & I had been invited to tea at his parents’ and then I took the young man’s mum to the evening service at church. The church heating had failed to come on so they were serving tea, coffee & mulled wine before the service. The children presented a nativity scene, complete with 2 real live donkeys, and then we headed back to meet the young man & his dad for a drink at the cricket club.
