Outfit: Saturday
I spent Friday evening clearing everything out of my wardrobes, moving them, and putting everything back in them. Not the most exciting way to spend Friday night. We are having new carpets next week and the young man wants to paint the skirting boards before the carpets go down, so that meant moving everything away from the walls. My friend K said that I might find some things I had forgotten I had, but sadly I am quite organised and know pretty much exactly what I have. The only thing I spotted was one grey sweater that I couldn’t remember whether I had kept or tossed, so I was pleased to find I had kept it.
Saturday morning I had a meeting about costumes with some of the other members of the drama group. The house it was held at isn’t far from me so I walked there, enjoying the lovely autumn sunshine.
The rest of Saturday was spent doing some washing and watching Flying Doctors and X-Files on DVD.

Outfit: Striped Friday
This tunic/dress was sent to me by Box Clothing to review. I love it and the review will be up on Monday.
You can’t go wrong with stripes and I added some basic tan accessories and the same scarf I had on yesterday. The scarf is made of cotton so it’s not too warm to wrap up round my neck like this.
It was quite warm out this morning, I was surprised when I stepped out of the front door. So not adding a sweater turned out to be a sensible move on my part really.
I am glad it’s Friday, as I always am. The clocks change in the UK this weekend so there’s an extra hour of sleep tomorrow night. I have a meeting tomorrow morning, and there’s some plans afoot for Halloween on Sunday I think, but other than that it will be a quiet one.

Mint Velvet
A few weeks back I was contacted by Mint Velvet and invited to a bloggers’ tea party they were holding in their store and promising goodie bags to all attendees. Sadly the event was in London and I was not able to attend. However, I was feeling cheeky so put in my RSVP that if they wanted to send me a goodie bag anyway they could.
A package arrived in the mail for me today containing a lovely pashmina scarf, pictured above.
Mint Velvet is a fairly new brand. Three women got together to “create a womanswear brand that not only reflected our passion for fashion but also our real lives”. They have some gorgeous pieces, all of which are very reasonably priced. A couple of their items have featured in Cosmopolitan and Heat magazines. In addition to the clothes there are a range of boots and jewellery too.
Check out Mint Velvet online, their boutiques in Windsor and Chichester, or in select House of Fraser, Fenwicks and John Lewis stores.
Outfit: Blue and Grey
Yes, this is the same sweater as the black one I had on yesterday. I also have it in red. What of it? In my defence, the blue one was bought on sale and the red one was bought on eBay. They are made of such a thick, stretchy fabric that when I saw the blue one reduced in the shop, I didn’t think twice about buying it. And when I spotted the red one on eBay (albeit a size bigger), I was happy to complete the set. They wash well, keep their shape, fit perfectly and are great either alone or as a layering piece.
I tried something different with my hair today. I am still attempting to get soft waves in the ends of it and gave it a go with my small curling tongs this morning. I got looser curls when I tried it last night, but today it ended up a bit curlier than I wanted. It will probably have dropped just enough by dinner time.

Outfit: Black and Brown
I was rushing to take my pictures this morning as I had to leave a little earlier than usual in order to drop the young man at the station on my way to work. Consequently some of them are a little blurred.
I am happy to report that it is a much nicer day today: blue sky, sunshine, a light breeze. I forwent a polo neck and just added a scarf to my sweater as it is forecast to be much milder than last week.

Outfit: Ruby Shoesday
It is grey and dull and raining outside today. Not particularly inspiring. You don’t want to get out of your cosy bed when you can hear the rain hammering on the window, and you know it’s still dark outside.
I am finally going back to the gym tonight, to attempt to go swimming. Not being able to breathe properly for the last two weeks, I didn’t think exercise was a particularly good idea. But I think I am well enough now.
Until then though, I am going to stay wrapped up and cosy indoors and avoid the rain.

Outfit: Shoeper Challenge #80 and Pretty In Pink
The weekend was quite a busy one and consequently I didn’t have time to take any pictures. I was dressed the same both days though: black polo neck, skinny jeans and tan boots. Nothing to write home about.
On Saturday I did my usual chores – cleaning the bathroom, vaccing, etc and made some soup with the home grown pumpkin the young man’s parents had given us. It was my first attempt at doing anything with a pumpkin and I think it turned out OK.
In the afternoon we went looking at new beds. We have next week booked off work and the young man is going to decorate the bedrooms and has ordered a new carpet for the stairs, landing and two of the bedrooms.
Saturday night was girls’ night at my sister’s. A couple of our friends came over too and we ate pizza and played dancing games on the Wii.
Yesterday morning I was on Sunday school duty. It turned out there was only one child in my class so we joined with the two older children and sorted out items that had been donated for the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.
In the afternoon we went to look at yet more beds, went back to the place we’d been on Saturday and finally picked out a bed, bedside tables and a mattress. Now I am awaiting a call telling me whether the bed and cabinets are in stock and available for order.
It was frosty again this morning. I love autumn days when it’s cold but sunny and clear. I am glad I picked out this pink sweater for today. It has a little cashmere and angora in it so is cosier than the other polo necks in my (vast) collection. I bought it in the sale back in February so it didn’t get much wear last year.
These boots were bought in Dublin back in 2004 when I was there with my friend S. They are by Bertie and were in the sale in BT2 (the younger sister store or department store Brown Thomas). I couldn’t leave them on the shelf when I discovered they fitted me and they were worn that very evening to go out.

Outfit: Glad It’s Friday
I had a slight detour on my way to work this morning to drop the young man at the station. It was still early though so the traffic wasn’t bad.
This is my final day of eye drops (I hope) and I can’t wait to wear my contact lenses again.
I think tonight will be a quiet one – the young man is always tired after a day in London.
