Matalan Snakeskin

Last night I spotted that Grease was on TV and so I watched it, and the young man joined me when he got home. It’s a great sing a long, but the morals of the movie are terrible: the girl has to change everything about herself to get her man? What’s that about? Straight afterwards, Film 4 showed Brassed Off – a film I love but can no longer take seriously thanks to the take off of it Victoria Wood did one Christmas called Brassed Up, complete with warning that it features strong accents (You Tube it, it’s funny). It doesn’t help that one of the chaps in the film was in the parody too. All I can hear is him saying my favourite line: “My father was killed down the pit. Terrible shock to me mother, he should never have been down there, he was a milkman.”.

It’s lovely and sunny again today, and so far, the long range forecast suggests it will stay that way into the holiday week next week. Fingers crossed! This skirt is a recent eBay acquisition. You can see the unusual fishtail detail on the back of it. When it arrived that part had about 3 more pleats on it, and as a consequence, it kicked out in a strange way at the back. I took it to the alterations lady in the village and now it still has a quirky detail, but it’s not too much. I had been on the lookout for a denim pencil skirt with no front fastening for ages (Allie has one and it looks fab). I find denim skirts that fasten at the front bunch up around the zip and I hate that.

Now that the weather is good and I can wear any pair of shoes I wish (no need to factor in what is suitable for rain, snow etc.), I am motoring through the Shoeper Challenge. Pair number 37 already! These were another Matalan bargain – they got a lot of wear last year and their cost per wear is definitely in pence. Though that was never going to be difficult, they cost just £6 in the sale.

Grey jacket – Long Tall Sally (eBay)
Red and white stripe top – H&M
Denim pencil skirt – Long Tall Sally (eBay)
Snakeskin shoes – Matalan
Silver hoops – gifted
Silver cross necklace – gifted
Red beads – Ethel Austin

Total Est. Cost £47

  1. I have always thought that about Grease, I am glad to find someone who agrees!

Going from sweet, innocent girl to a badass is all well and good, but doing it so a man will pay attention? Well that's just called insecurity.

On an entirely different note, that is a fantastic top! I really like sailor stripes in red, they add a nice pop so you don't look too overly nautical :-)
