London Baby!

I spent Saturday to Tuesday in London with my sister, hence the lack of posts in recent days. Here’s a recap, complete with outfit photos, plus some guest appearances from my sister!

Saturday I was up bright and early to catch the train to London. We arrived at Kings Cross around dinner time and made our way across London to our hotel. We stayed in the Earls Court area. We checked in and then headed for the Long Tall Sally store and Oxford Street. After a mammoth shopping expedition (although we didn’t actually buy that much – I just got some skinny jeans in LTS to replace my pair that are rapidly wearing out, and a dress in Topshop) we returned to the hotel and got changed to go out to eat. Here’s what I wore for the evening:

Sunday morning we were headed to Greenwich, but were thwarted by the closure of the DLR. So we turned around and went to Covent Garden instead. We walked from there to Leicester Square. Next we went to Harrods (I bought tights so I could wear my new dress that evening) and then back to Oxford Circus to check out where the theatre was for the following night. From there we headed back west and stopped off at the Science Museum to visit the Secret Life of the Home exhibition in the basement (which is well worth a visit if you are in the area).

That evening we went to the local pub for our tea. The dress I wore was one of my purchases the day before. It’s a Tall one but it is short enough to need tights or leggings underneath. Amber has the same dress (in tall as well) and she says hers is mid-thigh length on her too (and she’s only 5’4”). Erratic sizing!

Day:
Navy and white top – H&M
Brown denim skirt – Rocha John Rocha (charity shop)
Navy scarf - Dorothy Perkins
Navy and white trainers – Diadora (Brantano)
Tan leather bag – Sabrina (c/o Spartoo)
Sunglasses – Claire’s

Total Est. Cost £49

Evening:
Navy polka dot dress - Topshop
Navy crop tights – Tabio (Harrods)
Navy and white flats – New Look

Total Est. Cost £62

Monday morning we started out again for Greenwich, and made it this time. We walked up to the Royal Observatory and went into the museum there. It was a lovely sunny morning so we spent some time admiring the view.

Monday evening was the reason for the trip in the first place: Bucks Fizz in concert! Or The Original Bucks Fizz, I should say, as they are still wrangling over the name. Three of the four original members are back together and performed a 30th Anniversary concert to celebrate it being 30 years since they won Eurovision in 1981. It was fabulous! Bjorn Again (an ABBA tribute) performed a set first, and then Bucks Fizz came on. Cheryl Baker’s husband was on guitar, and her twin daughters were on backing vocals. Jay Aston’s husband was also on guitar so it was a real family affair and we had a great time.

Day:
Navy dress – Next
Navy and green stripe top – H&M
Navy and white trainers – Diadora (Brantano)
Sunglasses – Claire’s

Total Est. Cost £70

Evening:
Teal shrug – Long Tall Sally
Teal cami – Long Tall Sally
Brown denim skirt – Rocha John Rocha (charity shop)
Brown flats – Anna Field (c/o Zalando)
Total Est. Cost £12
