Happy Thursday! Here are a few things that I've been enjoying or have been making me smile this week.
- WW Dairy Spread – 0PP for up to 15g, 1PP for up to 40g! Awesome.Sauce.
- Weeks off work – sleeping in, pleasing ourselves, taking off to Edinburgh for three days with no notice because we feel like it: holidays rock!
- The sign in Tesco last week that said ‘Due to the challenging UK weather conditions we may be unable to provide a full delivery of broccoli’. I love that they’re choosing to see a full-on monsoon as ‘challenging’!
- The signs on the parking meters in Berwick-Upon-Tweed that said ‘These machines do not accept new 5p and 10p coins’. For the benefit of those outside the UK, the ‘new’ coins were introduced in 1990 and 1992 respectively. Presumably you could still use the old 5p and 10p coins (which were demonetised in 1990 and 1993) if you could find any? (Strangely enough the notices didn’t mention the ‘new’ 50p coin, introduced in 1997, but presumably the machines wouldn’t accept these either.) Anyway, the signs made me chuckle and question exactly what year it was in Berwick.
Enjoyed your observation about parking meters in Berwick-upon-tweed. I first visited the UK in 1995 (my home country is New Zealand). I had some old currency from my brother that included some of the old coins - I kinda got laughed at when I tried to use them in a shop :-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, love any post when you talk about food. Would be interested to know what you regularly eat for breakfast and lunch. I'm in a big breakfast rut.
Thanks for your comment. I will try to talk more about food then!
ReplyDeleteFor breakfast I will usually have porridge with half a teaspoon of brown sugar and a chopped apple mixed in. On weekends I might have a bacon sandwich or scrambled eggs, or porridge pancakes which are delish! I'll post the recipe for those later on. Occasionally I'll have cereal but since I started on F&H on WW I tend not to as you have to count points for cereal, but not for oats.
