In case you couldn’t tell from my Instagrams, the week of the Spring Bank Holiday we jetted off to sunnier climes (although I hear the weather in the UK that week wasn’t too shabby either), namely Lake Garda in Italy. I will be the first to admit that I am not good at summer dressing: we get so little hot weather in the UK that it’s not something I have do very often. I just stuck to a mixture of shorts and t shirts, and t shirt dresses. We did a mixture of walking between the towns on the shore of the lake, cycling on e-bikes (TOTALLY the way forward in cycling if you ask me), travelling by bus, ferry and car to the towns further afield on the lakeshore, and a day trip to Milan. Here’s what I wore.

This was my outfit for our evening meal on the first night. We were on half board so ate in our hotel every evening. We planned this deliberately as we had stayed there before and knew that the restaurant there serves an excellent five course meal each evening. You start with a salad buffet, then there’s a little appetiser dish from the chef, the pasta course, meat or fish course and then a dessert buffet. It’s amazing! This day we hired e-bikes in the town we were staying, and cycled a few kilometres up the lake. I would never cycle in flip flops at home, but everyone does it on the lake and it was fine.Top – New Look

This day we took out our hire car and drove right around the lake. The James Bond movie the Quantum of Solace was partially filmed around Lake Garda and the young man was keen to drive through the tunnels at the northern end of the lake which feature in the film.Top – Boohoo

This was the day we visited Milan. It was an excursion arranged by our tour operator so it was an air-conditioned coach trip and then a lot of walking around the city in the heat of the day. A loose fitting t shirt dress was perfect for feeling put-together but keeping cool.Dress – Boohoo Tall

This day we took the bus to a town at the southern end of the lake to explore, and then caught the ferry back to where we were staying.Shorts – M&S
