This shirt was bought back in March for Comic Relief and has been languishing in my closet ever since. It may be a Comic Relief shirt but it’s also a nice length white top with a cute cat picture on the front and I thought the grey and white would pair nicely with this blazer, which it does.

Speaking of this blazer, I have just Googled to find out why Prince of Wales check (which this blazer is) is so called. Apparently that’s just a nickname – the fabric is actually called Glenurquhart check after the valley of Glenurquhart in Scotland where the Countess of Seafield first used it to outfit her gamekeepers (according to Wikipedia that is). The nickname comes from when the fabric was popularised by the Duke of Windsor when he was Prince of Wales (he would briefly become King Edward VIII prior to his abdication in 1936, before being styled the Duke of Windsor). So now we know a little about the history of fashion’s current favourite check.
