Outfit: Grey Skirt Take Two

I noticed there was a mark on the front of this skirt on Monday afternoon (I am not having a good week, clothing wise!) so threw it in the wash as soon as I got home as I knew I wanted to wear it again today. Fortunately, it has a high mix of synthetic fibres in the fabric so it dried fairly quickly, and doesn’t need ironing. Score!

I love grey as an alternative neutral to black with a bright colour.

I think I will pair this with one of my pairs of high leg boots next time I wear it.

Outfit: Meal Out

The young man’s parents came over and we went out for tea at the local pub. It is just down the road so we walked. I was glad I’d taken my coat for the walk home as the wind was quite chilly. The pub does fabulous homemade food and we know we will always get a good meal there.

I remembered to include my bag in one of the pictures for once. It was £4 in the Barratts sale a few weeks back and I love how 80s it is.

Outfit: What I WAS Wearing

See those tights? Aren’t they fabulous? I thought so too, until I noticed that they had a hole in and were laddered, despite being brand new! Fortunately I noticed this before I left the house and had time to do a quick change into a plain purple pair. So we’ll just have to pretend that this is what I’m wearing right now.

As the tights were so loud, I kept the rest of the outfit simple, just adding flashed of purple here and there to bring out the purple stripe in the tarten. At least that made it easy to switch to an alternative pair of tights. And if you look at the centre photo in the collage, you can see the ladder down my right leg.

I included a shot of my fabulous short sleeve coat today as I have been wearing it on and off the past week or so. It’s getting pretty chilly on a morning now.

Tonight we are eating out at a local pub with the young man’s parents – I think it’s a belated birthday celebration for his dad.

Outfit: Julie & Julia

After my gym class last night I had a quick tea and shower, and then raced off to meet my sister at the cinema to watch ‘Julie & Julia’. I was expecting to love this movie and I didn’t not love it, I just didn’t’ love it as much as I thought I would, if that makes sense. It seemed to lack coherence at times and I thought they could have done more with the end, but I am guessing they stuck pretty close to the original stories (but I don’t know the original stories so I can’t be sure). It does have a certain charm about it and when I heard it was about a blogger, well, there was no way I wasn’t going to see it. I’m not sure it would be one I would buy on DVD, much as I do love Meryl Streep.

As for ‘The September Issue’ which would have been my first choice to see. It appears to be on limited cinema release here in the UK and is out on DVD on 21st September so I have just pre-ordered it from Amazon. And I’ve just realised that that is Monday so not long to wait at all!

I just had time to snap one picture when I got in. I layered up with two sweaters and a scarf because the night time temperatures are really dipping now, and I am always cold in the cinema due to overzealous air conditioning.

Outfit: New Skirt!

This is the skirt that I received from my friend Emma on Saturday. I have a few other ideas of ways to style it so expect to see it worn again this week! The leggings I bought when I was in London the other week.

When I got home last night, the young man was at the kitchen table with his laptop, looking up recipes to make Yorkshire pudding. He doesn’t often cook so when he made a giant Yorkshire, sausages & gravy for tea, I was very impressed. Especially as I have never attempted to make a Yorkshire pudding – that’s what Aunt Bessie is for!

This afternoon I have my gym class, then I am going to the cinema with my sister to see ‘Julie & Julia’ which I am very excited about. We were going to see ‘The September Issue’ but for some unfathomable reason, it is not being shown at any cinemas in Yorkshire until next month. Gah!

I also got some exciting post today. My friend Emma sent me a parcel of goodies. It included this grey skirt from Primark:

(I saw her wearing the same one the other week, said I liked it, and the next thing I knew she’d got another one to send to me! I have fab friends!), a Wispa Gold (a chocolate bar that Cadbury have just relaunched) a Raspberry Ruffle (no, I didn’t know what one was either, until today), and Primark’s version of Benefit High Beam. I just had to Google to find out what to do with it, but I’m looking forward to trying it out. And I'll definitely be wearing the grey skirt one day next week.

Outfit: Saturday

We had some friends round last night for tea. We had some drinks and the dance mat came out, then the Singstar, and the next thing I knew it was 1 in the morning! Despite that, we weren’t up too late this morning. I got some washing done and pottered around the house a while. After dinner the young man headed out to watch a trials bike competition and I went over to the next town to take some things to the charity shop and have a look in Matalan. I was after a houndstooth skirt that I’d seen online, but it turned out to be a bit too short for me. Ah, the curse of having long legs. I ended up with a denim mini instead, and a new pair of slippers.

The young man has now gone to a 50th party with a friend and I’m meeting up with them later on I think. Right now, I’m reliving my high school & university years with the 90s hits they’re showing on the 4Music channel.

It was lovely and warm and sunny here today. I’ll add the scarf when I go out later on.

Outfit: Casual Friday

It’s been chilly out on a morning the past few days so I added a hat & scarf today to try negate the need for a coat. It worked OK and I know it will warm up later on.

When I planned this outfit last night I knew it would be predominantly grey due to the t shirt and jeans, so I added in a ton of bright blue to liven it up a little.

I am still impressed with the length of these jeans. I bought them without trying them on and as they wer only £8 and I intended to just wear them under boots it didn’t really matter how long they were. But they must be a 33” inside leg at least, which is long for a regular length jean.

Last night I sorted out my wardrobe. I had intended waiting until this weekend to switch over my summer and winter things, but the young man had other ideas. Whilst I was out on Tuesday evening he fitted a piece of wood to divide the built in closet space in half, thus cramming all my dresses into a much smaller space than before and I was struggling to get them out. He also built himself a shelf for the bottom of his side of the wardrobes. So last night I shuffled things around a bit to make fuller use of the wardrobe in the spare bedroom that I had previously used to store my off-season things. Consequently, I now have more space in my main closet, but no longer have everything divided up into seasons.

Once the sorting out was done, I put on the Sex & the City movie whilst I did some ironing. The young man came in from the garden and moaned but declined the opportunity to turn it off in favour of regular TV. We ended up watching the whole thing and I think he secretly quite enjoyed it – but would never admit that in a million years!
