I am such a fall cliché of myself, apparently. Looking back at my Timehop for 5th October, on this day in the past 10 years I talked about eating homemade apple cake (I just made some the weekend of September 30th/October 1st this year), I wore burgundy (I wore burgundy yesterday), I talked about putting an extra cover on my bed (I was totally tempted to do that this week, it will happen before the weekend). I guess I’m just a creature of habit at this time of year.

This day was lovely and sunny and on days like that you don’t need a coat. I just threw on a cosy plaid scarf over my outfit and I was plenty warm enough outside.

I picked up these shoes in the George sale at ASDA and they were just £7. Can’t really go wrong with that, can you? They give a bit more coverage on a chilly morning than a ballet flat, and the soles are lovely and thick (I think they’re a driving loafer really) so it kind of feels like you’re walking around on a pillow.

On reflection I think a white top would have been better than the grey knit with this jacket. The camera has done funny things to the Prince of Wales check on the jacket though, so perhaps that’s what’s skewing my opinion on reviewing the pictures.

More OTK boots in this outfit! I can’t get enough of them, apparently. This pair are from ASOS and I was excited to learn a couple of weeks ago (via a Facebook group for tall people that I’m a member of) that ASOS have expanded their awesome Tall range to include boots. Now I’m not sure whether the boot shaft is longer than it usually would be, possibly, but the Tall boots are available in a UK 9 and a UK 10. Now, don’t get too excited, I have always found ASOS footwear to come up small and this pair is no exception – they are labelled a 10/43 (which all large-footed ladies know is not really a 10 at all) and I would say they are true to size 43 – they are definitely not a UK 10. For me though, this is fine and I’m glad I sized up as I am sure the 9/42 would be tight.

I paired my boots – with a little skirt from Topshop’s Tall range and a very autumnal burgundy top which I’ve had two years now and is still going strong, despite regular wear.

These boots are the sister pair of the black ones I wore the previous day. I like the black ones but wish they had a silver zip rather than a gold one. I feel like this grey pair will be very versatile over the coming months as grey goes with pretty much everything and they are a nice change from black boots.

This outfit is comfy and casual. It’s smart enough for the office but also casual enough for a trip out at the weekend.

Well, autumn must be officially here now that it’s October and to celebrate I wore a sweater dress (albeit a cotton knit one as it isn’t actually that cold yet) and over the knee boots. Yay! I’m still sticking with nude tights for the time being, it’s nowhere near chilly enough for thicker ones yet. I stuck my burgundy biker jacket over this to up the fall factor even further although by dinnertime I didn’t need it.

Outfit: October 1st – Christening

01-10-17

Just a quick snap of what I wore the first Sunday in the month when my friends’ little boy was being christened at church. It was such a lovely service, one of the retired ministers who knows us all so well lead the worship and there were some great hymns. There was a big lunch for the church family afterwards but I had to head home as we had the young man’s family coming over in the afternoon for a buffet tea.

I ditched the jacket in the afternoon as it was fairly warm, and the back seams are giving up on this one so I need to either fix it or bin it.

I bought this top back in the summer and then it was too warm to wear it. Now that it is the perfect temperature for long sleeve t shirts I got it out for an airing. I think it works great with a biker jacket over it.

I tried my burgundy one at first but then switched to the tan one from Tall Girls (who are no longer in business, sad face L) as it is more fitted and it paired better with my leopard print flats.

This Prince of Wales check jacket is fast becoming one of my favourites. I said the other day that the fabric was nice and thick and it felt warm. On closer inspection of the label I discovered that it is actually 9% wool so that will be why it feels so good. Well done Primark.

This dress looks like a t shirt dress but the fabric is actually a heavy-ish knit so it will work throughout the autumn and probably into the winter, layered up with tights and knitwear. And I’m smiling to myself at the thought of layering. Make of that what you will…

My original plan was to wear over the knee boots with this dress, but I tried on my grey pair with it and the proportions just seemed off. So I stuck to my tried and tested tan boots instead.

This outfit was so comfy that I kept it on all evening, not something I often do with a work look. I prefer to change into jeans when I get home but it was quite warm this day and so the lightweight dress was fine to head off to craft group in.

It was so wet the morning I wore this. Fortunately I had an eye test that morning (hence the contact lenses on a work day) so I had a legitimate excuse to drive to work. Yay!

This blazer is a really nice, thick fabric so I think it will be great in the chillier weather, even though the sleeves are fixed in place. I can see it with a black polo neck under it, or a white top, or perhaps even black and white stripes.
