A Question About Toothpaste
Clean, healthy teeth are an important part of every girl’s beauty routine. To that end, I was wondering what sort of toothpaste everyone uses? Would you consider teeth whitening as an option, whether professionally or with an at home kit? I drink my tea black and am conscious of it staining my teeth, so I use a whitening toothpaste, Macleans 2x Whitening to be precise. I try to buy it when it’s on offer as it is about 3 times the price of the ordinary one. I am happy with the results I get from it but I am interested to know what other people think on this subject.

I used asda whitening toothpaste. Not sure it does much tbh but I drink a lot of tea and coffee so am likely to get tooth staining.
ReplyDeleteArm & Hammer Extra Whitening Toothpaste for me, I have used this for a couple of years & wouldn't use anything else. Like you, I try to buy it when its on offer as it more expensive than standard toothpastes.
ReplyDeleteI heard those whitening toothpastes are really quite bad for your teeth, because it bleaches your teeth and can make them more sensitive (as per my dentist friend)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I love white teeth but like you -- drink a lot of tea.
She said if you want to really get your teeth whitened safely, the over the counter stuff is not really all that safe, and you should get it done professionally in a chair.
Still, to pay all that cash for when they're going to go yellow again? I'm hesitating.
I've seen a few reviews of the tooth whitening at home treatments, and the general consensus seems to be that whitening toothpastes work just as well as the expensive kits. The Pearl Drops one got good reviews on Gok Wan's show.
ReplyDeleteI think if I saw serious tooth staining in the future, I'd probably look into a professional treatment, but the at home kits seem to be as effective as a chocolate teapot :)
I've had my teeth whitened professionally, and I've used various at-home kits (I drink a lot of coffee, so any whitening treatment has to be topped up every so often for me!). I think the at-home treatments do work, but not as well as the ones you can get at your dentist, so it depends on how much staining you have. I don't find whitening toothpastes make any difference at all, but that could just be me...
ReplyDeleteI was advised by both dentist and hygenist to avoid whitening toothpaste and go with a basic fluoride toothpaste and a firm brush.
ReplyDeleteWhitening toothpates are known to break down the enamel in the teeth making problems worse in the long run!
i've got really sensitive teeth so i use Sensodyne ProNamel, i don't drink coffee or tea so i'm not really bothered about stains on my teeth, i care more about them not hurting!
