Last night we went over to the young man’s sister’s for his niece’s 6th birthday. Her main party was over but she was still dressed as a fairy as that had been the theme for the party. I love this dress but it is definitely too short for work, so I decided to give it an outing for a social occasion instead. I am wearing thick tights because of the length of the dress, and because it actually wasn’t that warm up here yesterday. (I would have gone with leggings or footless tights, but I don’t think the young man likes them. I don’t think men in general ‘get’ leggings and footless tights.) And I remember being cold at the young man’s sister’s house on previous occasions. I was proved right on this count as was glad I had taken my navy cardi along with me. I tried my tan boots with this dress and loved the look, but decided boots AND tights were probably a bit of overkill: it’s still August after all (not that you’d know that from the weather today mind). However, it will definitely become one of my staple looks in about a month’s time. So I went with my stripy flats for a bit of pattern mixing.
The tights are Falke, a brand I had not tried before, but I was very impressed with them. I picked up a couple of pairs in the sale in Debenhams, but assuming they wash as well as they wear, I would be happy to pay full price for them in the future. This is the 50D Semi Opaque style and they are just as thick as some 70D pairs I have worn from other brands. I can’t wait til it’s cold enough to try out the 70D pair of Falkes I have.
