Barratt Tan

I took yesterday off from work and my sister and I headed to York for the day in (belated) celebration of my birthday. We usually have a day out for each other’s birthdays and whoever’s birthday it is gets treated to lunch. We drove to the Designer Outlet just outside York and had a quick walk around there. We grabbed a cuppa in Pret and then took the Park and Ride bus into the city centre.

We went to a few shops and then headed to Bettys Tea Rooms for afternoon tea. My sister was very excited – she said she’s always wanted to have afternoon tea in Bettys as it looks so posh served on a triple decker silver stand. We didn’t have the champagne seen in the picture (though that is an optional extra) but it was delicious. There were sandwiches, scones and mini cakes, plus a large pot of tea.

My sister had agreed to buy me a birthday present whilst we were out so she got me these adorable shoes in Long Tall Sally:

LTS navy dot flats

They have replaced my navy and white stripe flats that have got a bit beyond acceptable after two summers of wearing them. I also binned a pair of mustard flats which were starting to look past it so my shoe total is down to 80 at present. I’m trying to operate a one in, at least one out rule this year as I am out of storage space and 80/81 is probably enough pairs anyway!

It rained all day yesterday, hence the choice of a dress with boots. Tights dry much faster than jeans if your legs get wet. And it was cold (again) so I put my winter coat, elbow length gloves and a scarf over the dress.

I spent only my birthday money yesterday and got a couple of tops in the LTS sale, plus the teal jeans I’d been um-ing and ah-ing over for the past two months in the Topshop Tall section.

Teal dress – Florence + Fred at Tesco (charity shop) (shortened)
Black cami – 3 Suisses
Black tights – M&Co
Tan boots – Barratts
Silver necklace – gifted
Silver hoops – gifted
Teal and silver ring – New Look

Total Est. Cost £66

  1. Sounds like a fun birthday! Your new summer flats are charming, and your bright tops are very fun. I know what you mean about the shoe storage issue; I have about a hundred-odd pairs and ordered a new pair last night. I'll find a place!
