Outfit: Shoeper Challenge 2013/14 Save 67 | Black and Turquoise
Monday morning dawned again and I took the opportunity to save a pair of shoes. I can’t believe I haven’t saved these before now really, as they usually get worn fairly regularly. However, they were still on my list for saving so today I have crossed them off. They are by Next and I got them for £4.99 in a charity shop. They were in excellent condition – worn just once or twice I would have said – and part of the original price tag was still attached, showing them to have been £44.99 new, so quite a bargain for me. Especially since they are real leather.
Did you all have a good weekend? I spent much of Saturday baking as I predicted I would – I made chocolate brownie, and a hot cross bun loaf in my breadmaker (recipe here for anyone who’s interested). I also managed to get outside and wash my car in the afternoon sunshine. Sunday was Mother’s Day in the UK so we had lunch with the young man’s parents, then went to my sister’s house for the afternoon and saw my parents and my sister’s in laws for afternoon tea. My sister and I baked scones for that.

Outfit: Transitioning to Spring
Despite the grey weather outside, this outfit is a spring transition. The mint green and paler coloured shoes are balanced with the black (faux) leather jacket and the black and white of the scarf. I wore my polka dot jeans because they’re fun, and why not?
It’s Mother’s Day here in the UK this weekend so I’ll be doing some baking in preparation for the afternoon tea my sister is hosting at her house on Sunday. Do you have plans for the weekend?

Outfit: The Last of the Sweater Dresses?
With the end of March looming (it’s April on Tuesday y’all!) I have high hopes that the weather will finally warm up properly and it will no longer be sweater dress season. However, with this week’s early morning temperatures hovering around freezing I have got in another wear of this old favourite dress today.
I paired the plain grey dress with bright blue accessories and added my gorgeous blue suede boots. Boot season will soon be over too.

Outfit: Burgundy and Stripes
Happy Tuesday y’all! Do you ever find that Tuesday is the slowest day of the week? I frequently do and I don’t know why that is. It just is.
I wanted a really simple outfit today. I spent much of yesterday with achy legs and an achy lower back, thanks to the 18 miles we walked on Sunday. It’s better today but last night I just wanted to pick out jeans and a sweatshirt. So that’s pretty much what I did, albeit coloured jeans and a striped sweatshirt. Adding a scarf and some heels takes it up a notch.
Cream and navy striped top – Forever 21
Navy top – Long Tall Sally (eBay)
Burgundy jeans – Dorothy Perkins Tall
Burgundy patent shoes – LK Bennett (c/o Sarenza)

Outfit: Jeans, Blazer, Stripes
It may be spring here in the Frozen North, but yesterday, as well as the spring sunshine, the wind was really cold. This made the huge (and very warm) scarf an absolute necessity when I took a walk to the Post Office. I was glad I’d chosen boots too.
The rest of my outfit was a great Saturday look – jeans, a striped sweater and a fitted blazer to smarten everything up. I love navy blue for spring (it’s much more inviting than black).

Navy, green and cream stripe top – Long Tall Sally (sale)

Size 9 (and Larger!) Footwear
It’s been a long time since I took a look at the Spartoo website, but this weekend I had a wander over there to see what they are currently offering in a size 9. This blog is supposed to be about being tall and needing larger size shoes, after all, so it’s about time I brought you a post on some of the styles currently available. Amongst the usual large size offerings of Converse and Crocs, I found some gems. Some styles are even reduced in the sale.
A good pair of tan boots is always a must for my wardrobe – I wore a pair today in fact.
This pair of courts is a lovely shade of blue and has a perfect sized heel for everyday wear. These come in a size 10 too.
Silver flats are another wardrobe staple for me and this pair is lovely (and goes up to a size 11!).
I have a pair of ankle boots very similar to these in my closet at present. They are getting a lot of wear this spring and I love the stud detailing.
So there you have it, just a taste of the very many (1330 to be precise) styles available in a size 9 (and many in larger sizes too) at Spartoo.

Outfit: Shoeper Challenge 2013/14 Save 66 | Spring Scarf
Even worn with black and white this scarf just screams ‘spring’ to me. It’s the vibrant colours and the oversize polka dots I think. My friend at work obviously liked it too as she joked it would look much better with her outfit than mine.
Look at me storming ahead with my shoe saving! It’s easier now the weather has picked up and I can save some actual shoes, rather than boots. I tend to wear ballet flats a lot with jeans in the spring and summer so should be able to get through the rest of my collection without too much trouble. This pair was bought on eBay, BNWOT, for just £2.99. I always thank the lack of spelling skills on my part and the part of the seller – she had listed zebra ‘pint’ flats, I managed to search for zebra ‘pint’ flats and these had no bids. They are just by George at Asda but I find the black and white works with a lot of outfits and is more interesting than plain black. I actually wore these shoes on Wednesday this week too, but didn’t take picture so it didn’t count for the shoe challenge.
Have a great weekend everyone!

Outfit: The Same, But Different
Yes, this is the exact same sweater I wore on Sunday, repeated on Monday. I switched out the jeans for a denim skirt and tights (it’s still chilly in the wind here even if the sun is sometimes warm and spring-like) and added my bright blue suede boots as it was forecast to stay dry and they go really well with the sweater.
By not blogging every day I was supposed to be giving myself more freedom to repeat items of clothing or even whole outfits without worrying about being boring or repetitive on the blog. I guess that’s not going to work out too well if I end up saving shoes on non-blogging days and then posting my outfits anyway!
Blue sweater – Long Tall Sally (sale)
Denim skirt – Jasper Conran (Debenhams sale)
Black tights – Primark
Blue suede boots – Georgia Rose (c/o Sarenza)
Leopard print scarf – H&M
Leopard print hoops – gifted
Blue necklace – New Look (sale)

Outfit: Shoeper Challenge 2013/14 Save 65 | Blue
I seem to keep saving shoes on days when I don’t get to take proper pictures. So it’s another ‘in the mirror’ shot for yesterday’s outfit which saw me saving my metallic blue flats. I wore these shoes on Friday too but didn’t get pictures at all that day. These shoes are by Esprit and came c/o the lovely people at Sarenza last year. I have the same pair in silver too, such is my love for pointy flats and metallic finishes.
I wore this outfit for church yesterday where I was on Sunday school teaching duty. It has been a really sunny weekend so we’ve enjoyed some time outside too.
I went all old-school with my hair on Saturday night and braided it in six small braids whilst it was still damp. Sunday morning I just undid them and volià ! Wavy hair!
