Outfit: March 17th – It Was Acceptable In The 80s!
Saturday night we went to a friend’s 40th birthday party. It was 80s fancy dress so this is what I wore. Not the best outfit, but the best I could do on six days’ notice! And with minimal purchasing – just the jeggings, legwarmers and the neon hair ties. If I look a little deshevelled here it’s because I took the pictures when we go back, by which time I had walked up and down a large hill in the snow (yes, the snow came back, no, I didn’t walk in these shoes!) which was not fun. We decided if we’d parked at the top of the hill where our friends live we might get stuck so we parked at the bottom and walked.

Outfit: March 16th – Accepting Defeat
Waking up to yet another wet and miserable day I finally conceded defeat that it was still winter outside and put on boots. And then the weather warning for the snow at the weekend got upgraded to amber and it was definitely still winter outside.

Outfit: March 15th – Blue and Burgundy
Another wet, manky day. I stashed my lovely blue shoes in my bag and put on boots to walk to work. Boots which were very wet by the time I got there.
My spring-like floral top and cheerful blue shoes helped to lift the mood a bit though. Even if it did mean I had Meryl Streep’s voice in my head all day saying “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.”

Outfit: March 14th – More Orange
So apparently I was liking orange the middle week in March. It’s certainly a nice bright shade for spring. And it pairs really well with this striped blazer. I took advantage of the dry weather to wear these fabric slip-on trainers as the threat of the weekend snowmagedon was growing ever more by the day.

Outfit: March 13th – Carried Over
This is an outfit that I carried over from last week. I had been intending to wear it on Thursday last week, but on waking up to falling snow it had to be shelved in favour of something a little more weather appropriate. I was making the most of a couple of spring-like days this week, sandwiched between Monday’s torrential rain and the impending doom of further snow that was forecast for the weekend. Yay.
The bright orange and glimpse of ankle certainly made this outfit feel like spring, but the high vamp of the shoes kept my feet warm and I could still put my winter coat over the blazer to ward off the chill. One day it will be spring. Perhaps.

Outfit: March 12th – Very Wet Monday
I think I spoke too soon in my previous post about spring. The day after that post, it hammered it down all day. I hate the British weather sometimes. These pants were not the right thing to be wearing in the rain either, but at least the pleather trainers are waterproof so my feet stayed dry.

Outfit: March 11th - Casual Mothering Sunday
It was mothers' day in the UK and this was just a casual outfit to complete some chores around the house and to go visit the young man's mum. I hung my washing out for what I think is the first time this year and it dried. Spring? Is that you?

Outfit: March 9th – Biker and Stripes
What a difference a day made! Sunshine, no new snow on the ground, temperatures in double figures. They often say in Britain that if you don't like the weather then wait a few hours and it will probably be completely different. That was certainly true at the end of this week!
With most of the snow gone, I decided to brave ripped jeans. With a big scarf and my big coat to put on top of what you see here I was just about warm enough.

Outfit: March 8th: More Snow
So the snow made an unwelcome return. I had a nice, spring-like outfit all picked out to wear and then I opened the blind and there was several inches of snow on the ground. Gah. I got togged up in my usual skirt-fleece leggings-thick sweater combo but then decided I was overreacting and that if I made it to work I would be far too hot. So I got changed into jeans and a cashmere sweater, stashed the flats in my bag and put on my EMU boots to walk up the hill, once there was someone else in my office and I could actually get in (as I don’t have a key). I had hoped I had put my big coat and EMUs away for the year, but apparently now.
