There was no more snow overnight last night so I made it into the main office today. You can’t really tell from the pictures but I’ve got knee high socks on over my leggings for warmth. I neglected to put a second pair of socks on over those though so I had cold feet all the way in this morning.

Last night’s drama rehearsal was cancelled as it is very hilly around the church where we rehearse and chances are those roads wouldn’t have been gritted. The local council appears to be running out of grit as some more major roads have not been properly gritted. The church choir is having a party this evening. Hopefully that won’t get snowed off.

Sale Shopping

The skirt which I had on (briefly!) yesterday is from the first part of my sale haul from Long Tall Sally ordered before Christmas. I have a couple more bits that I ordered just after Christmas on their way somewhere, but I suspect they are delayed by the snow. The skirt is actually a darker navy blue than it looks in yesterday’s photos, and was down to just £10.

This top arrived too and is much more purple rather than the pink it looks here. However, it's a keeper as I love the ruched sleeves and the buttons on the back of the neck.

Outfit: Still Snowy

As yesterday was a bit of a non-starter outfit-wise, I will repeat it at some point once the snow is gone. But judging by the long-range forecast, that could be a while off yet.

After out sledging adventures yesterday we went for a walk up the road to a pub. It snowed all day from around 6.30am to 3.30pm. As we were heading out, the man across the road brought his van back into the street (he’d had to abandon it in the carpark of my gym earlier on). There was no way he was going to get it up the kerb onto his drive without help, so the young man and his mate helped to push it. Then a lady in a VW Polo came round the corner and couldn’t get up the minor incline in the street so the lads gave her a push too. On the way back from the pub we encountered another car stuck on the estate above ours so the lads stepped in once again.

This morning I woke to find a further couple of inches of snow had fallen so was glad I had laid out jeans and boots to wear today. The priority right now is warm & snow proof! My poor old EMU boots gave up the battle with the snow on Monday night and started leaking due to the amount of snow on the ground, so I’m giving them a rest for a while and have turned to my waterproof Merrell boots instead, which are just as cosy. I have a pair of tights under my jeans for warmth and to act as a second pair of socks inside my boots. The grey top is thermal and really cosy.

Snow Day – Part 2

Once the young man was home, his mate (who is still on Christmas holidays) came down. They went for a snowy walk and I made soup for lunch. I took the afternoon off work and we all went sledging!

Outfit: Snow Day!

Well, this is what I was wearing this morning as it wasn’t snowing when I got up. By the time I came to set out for work though, it was snowing. Hard. I got about 3 miles down the road, a trip that usually takes about 5 minutes. It took 25 today. I could see the traffic ahead wasn’t moving and the snow was jusy getting thicker on the roads so I turned off and headed back home.

The young man set out, got 4 miles & back in 2 hours and is now home as well.

I put my scruffy jeans on when I got home, keeping on the 2 pairs of tights I was wearing already, and added a cardi over my sweater. I am working from home from the comfort of my sofa, watching the snow out of the window.

Outfit: Back to Work

Sadly the holidays are over and it was back to work this morning. It was incredibly cold outside and took ages to scrape all the ice and snow off my car.

I wanted to ensure I had something fab to wear today to help with the Monday morning/end of holiday blues, and with a little help from Kimberly’s Inspiration Calendar and the girls on Twitter (thanks Emma & Erin), I came up with today’s back to work outfit. Erin suggested I wear the scarf she knitted for me (and I’m glad I did – it’s super cosy) and when given the choice of blue or grey cardis, Emma chose blue – “it’s you, Fí” she said. The gold belt was a Christmas gift from Emma and goes perfectly with this shirt as there are strands of gold thread running through the fabric.

Outfit: Last Day of the Holidays

I made the most of my last lie in rather than getting up for church this morning. Once I was up I took down the tree and Christmas cards. As you can see we had another dusting of snow last night and it all looked so pretty against the blue sky that I couldn’t resist taking some shots outside. I hope to make this a more regular occurance, light permitting.

My EMU boots were a must again with all the snow and a cosy cardi helped to ward off the cold.

We had been invited to the young man’s parents’ house for tea so we walked the long way round in the snow to work up an appetite. We enjoyed roast pork and Christmas pudding, a good way to end the holidays. The weather forecast is for the temperature to plummet to minus 7 tonight so I am not looking forward to getting up for work in the morning.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2010 to all my lovely readers! No outfit post for today as it’s been a lazy day at home and I’m just in my scruffy jeans and grey hoodie.

I did just want to tell you about a style challenge I’ve set myself for the coming year though. I pledge not to buy any clothes or footwear using money that has not been earned through stylish means. By that I mean I can only spend money I have made selling items on eBay, through my blog, or gift vouchers that have been given to me as a gift. My initial aim is to get to my birthday in mid-April but let’s see how long I can last.

Outfit: New Year’s Eve – Evening

The young man and I headed out to a local pub to see in the New Year. I was going to wear my blue metallic shoes but it was starting to snow as I was getting ready so I decided my OTK boots were the best (and warmest) option. By the time we were all turfed outside to sing Auld Lang Syne at midnight, there was a light dusting of snow on the ground and the cars were frosted up. It was quite cold!
