Outfit: Red and Cream with a Hint of Teal
So I kind of feel like Santa in my outfit today. Which is ironic since I have to play Santa tomorrow and dish out the gifts for one team’s Secret Santa exchange. But it was wet and windy today and this sweater is super cosy – especially when you add a knitted teal infinity scarf like I did. And you know how I feel about cosiness at this time of year: it’s pretty much a requirement.
Last night I went to the last step class of the year. Well next week is Christmas Eve and the week after New Year’s Eve so the gym will be shutting early.

Outfit: Red and Teal and Black
I am really enjoying dressing in the festive colours of green and red this week. Even in muted tones of those shades, such as burgundy and teal. It’s almost Christmas: may as well make the most of it!
I wore my most comfortable heels today. These boots have now been in my wardrobe over 10 years. If I was going to volunteer to walk miles in heels (and I’m not, I’m not stupid. But if I was) it would be these boots I would choose to do it in. They are really well made and despite the height of the heels they are actually really comfy.

Outfit: Shoeper Challenge 2013/14 Save 54 | Teal Jeans and Cashmere Sweater
My friend was wearing teal jeans at church yesterday and looked pretty festive in them, so I thought I’d wear mine today. Paired with dark red shoes and a red scarf they’re kind of Christmassy.
The red patent flat shoes came c/o Sarenza and are by Georgia Rose. I have the same ones in silver, that’s how good they are. They are lovely soft leather and a gorgeous deep red colour.

Outfit: Festive Hectic Weekend
I had quite a hectic one this weekend. Saturday there was a gathering of all my family for a pre-Christmas lunch and gift exchange. My parents usually host this but decided this year it would be easier if we went out so we ate at a local carvery pub. After lunch we headed home. I spent the evening wrapping Christmas presents, watching festive episodes of the X Files and drinking tea.
On Friday I bought a Christmas tree. It’s quite small and very thin because we don’t have a lot of space for a big tree now. It is still waiting to be decorated as we’ve not got the things down from the loft yet.
Sunday I thought I was saving a pair of shoes but when I checked my list I found that they were already safe. I did manage to dress head to toe in Long Tall Sally though, so there’s that. I headed off to church as the choir was singing an anthem for the Advent Carol Service and I was on Sunday School duty. There was a choir practice after the service in preparation for the evening carol service, then I went home and baked some scones as we had my parents coming over for afternoon tea.
In the evening I went back to church for the candlelight carol service. We hold this at my church every year and it is a magical occasion – the whole church is lit only by candlelight which makes it really Christmassy.

Outfit: Christmas Sweater T Shirt
Today is National Christmas Jumper day in the UK. Apparently. Some of the folk in my office were participating. I don’t have a Christmas jumper (unless a plain red one counts, in which case I have two!) but I do have this awesome Christmas t shirt so I put that on over a thin sweater and was good to go.
Hands up who else is glad it’s Friday? I feel like I am flagging today and am ready for a bit of a sleep in tomorrow. I have a fairly busy weekend coming up but it’s all good Christmassy stuff so I’m looking forward to it.

Outfit: Shoeper Challenge 2013/14 Save 53 | Cosy Red Sweater
I saved some shoes! Look at that! The high for today was 11°C so I decided that was warm enough for flats and pop socks. These shoes were purchased last spring (2012) in the sale at Jones Bootmaker. I love the colour and the pointed toes (pointed toe flats are my favourite kind of flats) but the suede isn’t always practical for the UK. However, I wanted a festive red look today so these shoes fit the bill perfectly.
Sticking with the festive theme I put on my cosy red sweater and my favourite greeny-turquoise scarf. Striped pants completed the look.
Last night I did the supermarket shopping and then we caught up with Tuesday’s episode of Last Tango in Halifax.

Outfit: Brown and Teal
I am trying to incorporate green (or teal) and/or red (or burgundy) into most of my outfits this month since they’re Christmassy colours. Today was a teal skirt paired with brown.
Last night I met my sister in town for a little more Christmas shopping. I usually like to do it all (or the majority of it) in one big hit as it makes me feel organised, but this year I have been doing bits here and there and it has been way less painful than I thought it would be. I am almost done now, just a couple more items to get. We had a good time being out in Leeds – we visited Trinity Kitchen again, this time for Pie and mash from Notes (highly recommended) and then got crepes on our way back up through the Christmas market.

Outfit: How to Liven Up a Black Dress with Colourful Accessories
I feel it is going to be another slow shoe-saving week this week. All but two of my pairs of boots are safe, and unless I wear some of my fancier shoes I can’t see any of those getting saved this week either. But there’s plenty of time (another 9.5 months) so I’m not worried.
Sometimes the easiest outfits start with a basic black dress. I stuck a cardigan over mine as it only has elbow length sleeves and it is December and all. I then set about livening up the dress with coloured tights, tan boots and a colourful scarf. Oh, and a glittery belt. Well, it is almost Christmas!
In other news, Santa came down my street last night. No, really, he did! I have a picture to prove it:

Burgundy tights – H&M
Black cardi – New Look Tall
Tan boots – Steve Madden (c/o Sarenza)

Outfit: Navy Dress and Boots, Burgundy Tights
Navy and burgundy is a colour combination I am loving at the moment. They’re both such rich tones and I think they go together really nicely. A long sleeve dress and thick tights is an easy Monday morning outfit too.
The weekend just gone was my last free one before Christmas so I did a few chores, ran a few errands and spent some time relaxing. I got some gifts wrapped on Saturday afternoon and listed a bunch of stuff on eBay yesterday.
